I actually don't care about that very much, since it was consensual, but I do care that Clinton lied under oath about that relationship to protect himself in a sexual harassment lawsuit. On that basis, I supported impeachment and removal at the time (which was admittedly easy because I hated him for other reasons) and I still do now (when those reasons have faded and now seem rather quaint).
Just got this information watching "The View" this morning:
According to Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) on CNN, the calls coming into her office are tracked. 60% of all calls from her constituents (both R and D) are saying they support the ACA subsidies.
The recommendation offered this morning on "The View" is to call the Congressional Switchboard @ (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak with your Congress person. When you are transferred, or if you get transferred to VM, LEAVE A MESSAGE to voice your opinion.
If Marjorie Taylor Greene (a very staunch pro-Trump Republican) can advocate for supporting the ACA subsidies, your Congress person can, too.
Please give a call and keep calling. The inclusion/retention of ACA subsidies are the sticking point for why the Republicans have shut down our Government.
Day 36, and we are in the longest shutdown of the United States Government in our country's history. Great job, MAGAts. You must be very proud.

Not sure if you blocked me but I will go ahead anyway. Actually, it is great job Chuckie (Schumer). You made millions of people suffer because you would not vote for the same CR you voted for in March to keep government open. No problem with you fighting for Obamacare but negotiate with the government open. I don't want to hear about "leverage BS" when people are not getting paid or receiving their benefits. It looks like government will re-open again because a handful of Democratic Senators did the right thing finally. The sad thing is that we will all be in the same boat again when the CR ends in January.

Republicans could have reopened the government at any time.
They nuked the filibuster for judges. They could have done the same here.

For the umpteenth. Bloody. Time. CHUCK SCHUMER NEEDS TO GO
If you can't fight for millions of Americans receiving healthcare, what good are you?
Chuck is great and he didn't want this. He realized how many people are hurting and suffering right now, so he blinked. Good news is we just won the midterms since people solely blame the MAGAts for this horrifying crisis that they themselves created. People have short memories in America (1/6/21), but they NEVER forget when you f*ck with their money and ability to feed their families. Ever.

Actually, Democratic Majority leader Harry Reid was the first one to nuke the filibuster when he did it to get federal judges confirmed. Senator Mitch McConnell warned Reid that he may regret that decision someday when Democrats did not have the majority. Sure enough, payback is a bitch. Senator McConnell nuked the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees when he became majority leader which allowed the Court to become conservative.
The Democrats when Biden was POTUS talked about totally getting rid of the filibuster. Republicans fought not to allow it to happen and think they got Democratic Senator Joe Mancin to vote with them. Most Republicans believe and I agree it is one of the few tools the minority have not to get steamrolled by majority rule all the time. Current Senate Majority leader Thune said he would not get rid of it even to open the government, stood up to Trump who was pushing for it.

Hate to disagree with you Sutton, but IMO it’s beyond time for Schumer to go. He couldn’t keep those 8 democrat senators in line, which means he can’t control his caucus. If he can’t do that, he has no business being minority leader. I think he desperately wishes he was back in circa 2015 politics. He needs to follow Pelosi’s example and clear the way for some new blood.
Oh, don't ever hate to disagree with me James, I respect your opinion here and always have. I would love new blood as well. New, young leadership is what our party desperately needs. Chuck is getting old and he should think about retiring, but the pain of the American people was just getting worse and worse. I understand why the 8 people did what they did, and we need the government open for a million different reasons. My beautiful friend who works in a warehouse is having a lot of difficulty feeding her two children because, in a first world Nation, the GOP would rather have people starve to death than compromise and act like professional adults.
They should buy Thanksgiving dinners for every one of their constitutes with the $30,000 paycheck they received for November and disappear forever. To go into public service, to promise to WORK for the people in America, and then fight like hell to make sure they go hungry? To go to court to make people who live in poverty suffer more? It makes me incredibly angry. So goddamn angry.
They should all be drawn and quartered and once again, such a shame Mr.Crooks missed. Because if he had not? Our country would not be completely ruined today. It would never have been shut down, and the Harris Administration would be taking care of Americans and not destroying everyone's lives. But, as always, the stupid, ignorant, uneducated men in this Country (of all races) were too chicken sh*t to vote for a woman. May they forever regret their decision and suffer catastrophically.

If only you had been saying this 18 months ago, Sutton! #Mamdani2028
Sutton, I think if there’s one silver lining to all this it’s what you said above: the blame for this entire mess lies squarely on the GOP. If Democrats are smart, they’ll spend the next 12 months making sure the electorate never forgets it.

So we're still going with the Democrats' umpteenth chorus of "Our hands are tied". Cool.

Really. Both parties can't agree on budget and there is danger of another government shutdown in October. Just to try and keep the government open, Republicans put up for a vote a "clean" CR as last-ditch effort. That is a bill that basically funds the government for short period of time at the same level it had been operating at since March. This means the spending is not a Republican wish list, it has the priorities of the Biden administration. Republicans passed that bill in the House, but it stalled in the Senate. Republicans could not get enough votes (60) to get pass a filibuster. Schumer blocks this bill, but it is the same one he voted for in March. On the Senate floor in March, he said he would not shut the government down over this issue, my how that changed. Let me also add Majority leader Thune in the Senate has said they will discuss healthcare issue with Democrats but needed the government open first. We shall see. BTW - Democrats voted down "clean" CR 14 times even though the American people were not getting paid or getting benefits they needed.
So please inform me how Republicans are at fault. They passed the CR in the House (to open government) because it was simple majority vote. They needed help from a few Senate Democrats to reach 60 and could not get it. There was no reason for Democrats not to vote for clean CR and then hopefully negotiate in good faith. Democrats played politics while the American people suffered.
Both sides have done nothing to help the American people. it's a sh!t bill that does nothing except reopen the governement so those federal employees can start getting paid again. This is only a band-aid until Jan. 30 when it'll get shutdown again.
The bill would fund the government through Jan. 30 and provide funding for some government agencies for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Very sad but true!!!
On this Veterans Day, I cannot adequately describe the disgust I felt to see our Draft Dodging Wannabe Dictator speak at Arlington National Cemetery ceremonies. His very presence in that hallowed space was a dishonor to all those who offered up their lives, and continue to do so, to our beautiful Country. We MUST return to the Democracy we love.
DO NOT STOP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT !!I
As a kid growing up, I really had zero experience with the military or anyone who served. I just thought it was a voluntary thing, and they understand what they sign up for. It was a pretty judgmental, narrow view of things which I held until I was 19 years old.
Then, after a deep personal loss, I decided to spend Christmas in Florida, at Disneyworld. I have no clue how that idea popped into my head, but that is where I spent the holidays that year. I was walking around Epcot Center on Christmas Eve, and I saw a person setting up chairs to some kind of big event. I went over to this man and asked him what was going on. That man was Gary Sinise. He told me all the work he did with Veterans and their families, and this was a big event for them. Gifts, food, prizes, etc. He also told me how his acting in Forrest Gump made this work "essential to his life". He invited me to the event later, shook my hand warmly, and turned around continued setting up chairs. He didn't need to be setting up chairs of course (he had hundreds of volunteers) but he is a true leader, a teammate, and one of the greatest human beings on record.
Since that day, I have done outreach for his foundation, and have a completely new, positive perspective on everyone involved in the military and their families who sacrifice right alongside them. Gary does the work, and it shows in his decades of charitable work. I have met many "famous" people, but Gary is the greatest one I will ever meet, hands down. Thank you to all who have ever served and continue to sacrifice today. It's deeply appreciated. It's weird to tell people Gary Sinise changed my life, but there it is.

"Thank You" to Gary Sinise. He is a true hero within our military communities. And "Thank You" as well, Sutton Ross, for sharing your very personal and inspiring story.![]()

As I post this, our Federal Government is still shut down.
I am the youngest of five brothers, all of whom served in the military. The three middle boys have passed, leaving the oldest (soon to be 100) and the youngest (me, soon to be 79) still upright. I am proud to share their genes.
Our Democracy is at stake. It takes someone like Gary Sinise and Sutton Ross to remind us to support our military heroes. Because of Sutton's post, I have made a donation to the Gary Sinese Foundation.
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT FOR OUR DEMOCRACY !!
Yes, it's disgusting what the GOP has done, allowing this horror and chaos, and still collecting their checks from their couches and doing absolutely nothing for the people they promised to serve. Bone chilling.
Thank you for all you and your family have done, and thank you for donating to his foundation, his work with Vets and their families are second to none. Stay strong. ![]()
The House is reportedly going to vote on reopening our government sometime today. We shall see.
Representative Grijalva has FINALLY been sworn into Congress. She will now sign the Epstein discharge petition. Again, FINALLY.
House has voted to end shutdown.
