Here is the deal breaker for how bad the storm will be. I just paid my credit card bill online, in fear that I'll lose power and be screwed tomorrow. Now in my belief system, power won't go out.

Everything here in Manhattan is still calm...
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

Stupid question, but does NYC have tornado sirens?

Good luck, Eris! Some gusts but not too bad in upper Manhattan as of yet. I guess it's supposed to be at the worst in the morning.
I always have to watch Geraldo during a hurricane. His over-dramatization of the mildest thing is always a guarantee. I especially loved how he remarked that Bloomberg seemed "gloomy and grim" during his news conference. Has he never seen a Bloomberg news conference before? His tone would be no different if he was giving a fireman a medal for saving a kitten from a tree.

A friend in Harlem posted about seeing lightning about half an hour ago, but I haven't seen any yet here in Hell's Kitchen.

Heard that for NYC the main part of the storm should hit around 10 am.

It's so quiet (for now) it's eerie, however, being above the 40th fl is starting to get me a bit nervous. Who knows how high the wind gusts will be after 5 am? We normally have terrible wind tunnels with ANY storm. Anyone in this situation? Will you vacate into the stairwell if things get really bad?

Violet - how do they now have tornado sirens around here? We were in the basement for 1/2 hour earlier. Afraid to go to sleep.

I am right on the East Rive/ Harborr at the end of Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. We were evacuated but there are about 60 of us who have decided to remain. There have been City Officials dropping by all night. I think they are concerned with the scaffolding around the building.
Still not anything to write home about.

I just got back from retrieving a box from our building's basement. It's not at all wet in there, save for one puddle that looks the same as it did on Thursday.

I hope everyone is staying safe. I'm worried about my friends on LI, in the city, and on the Jersey Shore. I'm up in NH and while it will hit here, it won't be too bad.

Keep in mind, we've barely just begun. The worst is coming tomorrow morning.

Some funky winds and noise like big clunky flapping have just begun here in the Upper West Side...
