Alan Ball has said he'll stay on as an EP and overall story consultant--so that gives me more hope (and the last few seasons--for good and bad--he apparently was less involved in the actual episode to episode writing.) The trailer looks great, although for some reason it looks like the trailer for a final season to me. We'll see.
I'm excited! I had to read a recap cuz I couldn't even remember the cliffhanger from last year (dunno how I forgot the bloody Bill/God thing...)
I really didn't enjoy last season. I didn't remember the cliffhanger either. I might read a recap too because I have no desire to sit through all of those episodes again. I'm definitely ready for it to come back though. I just hope this season is better.
"My favorite thing about last season was Vampire Tara."
I have to give the writers credit for transforming a complete pain the ... into a likable character. I liked her character during the 1st season and last season. To me, the serie's nadir has been that Marianne-Tara-Eggs foolishness that went on forEVER.
The early first three episode reviews have had me dis-heartened. I've read a lot of things about how the show seems to forget that it's at its best when it's camp, how even the nudity now feels like no fun, and that Alan Ball's presence is sorely missed. Then again, these reviews seem to me to have come from the same critics who complained about all the previous seasons, even the first....
I heard a lot of complaints about last season, but as a whole, I was still on board. I haven't read a single review of the upcoming season so I'm going in tomorrow blind. I've only even allowed myself to check out a few of the briefer previews. Where True Blood is concerned, it has to do do something pretty wretched for me to turn on it.
as (mostly) all in last year too--like I said, these same critics seem to always complain and then forget they disliked the past season while reviewing the current one. I am an Alan Ball fanboy--he's the reason I even started watching the show, so I'm disappointed he's just a consultant this year, but I am excited for the season.
Would they get rid of Eric? I hadn't heard those rumours. All the trailers, etc, do make me think that this could be the finalseason.
Wynbish, although I tried to block it out, what you said about the death of you know who is true. That's the only spoilerish thing I know about this season. That won't kill the show for me. I survived the deaths of my beloved Russell Edgington, Debbie Pelt (the poor misunderstood dear, who I originally typo'd Debbie Pet) and, last but certainly not least, the very best vampire there ever was, Nan Flanagan. God, I miss her so much. I was actually convinced for a second Bill was really gone at the end of last season, before Billith arose, and thought it was cool they'd had the balls to do it.
The women are always my favorite, so it would take Pam, Tara or Jessica (the last two would just break my heart in pieces) for a character's death to make me tune out. And I probably still wouldn't. I know so many people who have given up on this show but I will never let it go, baby.
I wouldn't survive the death of Pam. I miss Nan a lot too (and I admit a part of that love is I watched Jessica Tuck on One Life to Live and love her--and loved seeing her play such a completely different character,) but how sudden it was staged was great.
