Will probably see ACL eventually but have many others to see first. Have Color Purple,Tarzan & Mary Poppins currently in the pepeline & always look for others on TDF & broadway Box
The original was so good that it is hard to imagine it being done again
I understand, DD, but, maybe someone will leave you a ticket to GREY GARDENS in your stocking!
Best, DUH! I never even thought about the Sondheim connection! I mean, when I watched TCJ a couple of weeks ago, I thought about both Ms. Lansbury and Ms. Johns in Sondheim shows, but not at the same time!
I don't know how I'd feel if I'd seen the original cast. I just love the show, and see it whenever I can. I have not seen a professional production since the early 90's.
I've actually gotten better deals off of playbill than broadwaybox recently.
I'll have to make sure my stocking makes it to Washington, then.
Well, I guess you should see it then, DD. But you are missing something spectacular if you miss GG! (Sorry! I just can't keep my excitement about that show in!!!)
I still need to see GG.
GG is starting to grow on me as I continue researching it and reading reviews.
What are th dates you are going to be in NYC, DD? I had to postpone my trip (which was supposed to start yesterday) until early January. Not sure of the dates yet. Gotta talk to Janie.
I haven't done any research on it, so I know nothing about it, for the most part. I heard one song at Broadway on Broadway, and didn't care for it at all.
I had no real desire to see it until recently. I didn't see the big deal, but it seems very different, and I like that. Plus I have always like Ebersole.
Of course every time I see your avatar, it reminds me how much I want to see the Bee!
Depending on when I get off work, I may go to Bee tomorrow. And Sunday.
The BEE and GG are SO different from each other, but the thing that makes them alike is that they are truly "original."
If you like off-beat things that are unlike anything else, GG is a good choice.
Both shows are about people who live in a "parallel universe." I guess there's more similar in ways than I had thought at first!
So jealous. We usually do sunday matinees, but this weekend we are doing a Sat afternoon performance of Forbidden Broadway, or else I'd say I'd meet you Sunday night at the Bee!
I may be seeing WS on Sat afternoon. In general I try to avoid matinees if I can!!
Miss P, I will trust your opinion on if I should see GG.
Go see it, L! It has the right balance of "dark and light." I think you would like it. (We tend to like the same shows.)
I am going to see it again when I come in January.
I usually do matinees because they are the most affordable to purchase in advance. I am so far behind everyone and there are so many I want to see! But I also am trying not to go broke, lol!
Sorry Ms. P, got called away. W*rk, you know.
I'm in NYC from the 28th until the 1st or 2nd. Then back to DC. Leave DC on the 4th.
Well, quitting time is here. I'm off.
Talk to you all later...
Since I no longer LIVE in NYC, I go to see a show in every time slot possible when I'm there. In February I will see 4 shows in 2 days. If ya gotta see a matinee, ya gotta.
I went to see the national tour of MOVIN' OUT on Saturday afternoon and several of the principals were out, but guess what? I am THRILLED to have seen who I did because they were sensational. Sometimes understudies kick you-know-what!
Bye DD!
Tink, I almost always get tickets the day of the show, usually for no more than $26.25
Miss P, I'll just go with you in January!

Hey, guys - I just got the call that I booked that DeafWest project I told you about! Woo-hoo! Thanks again for all the good vibes!
CONGRATS!!!!
I have never seen a show that just started and had the entire OBC like on the recordings I listen to all the time. So I really hope everyone is there when I see TARZAN. Esp. because I am such a "fan girl" about Josh, lol!
Liotte - I hope that once spring hits, we will start just going into the city and getting lotto/TKTS tickets for all different shows. Just can't convince the hubby or friends to do it in the winter. I've been out of college for a few years, but my ID still looks pretty good and doesn't have any issue dates on it. Think it'd still pass for Student Rush tickets?
Just about everyone who tries for student rush gets it...even me!
You will have no prob with student ID!
