Who else is excited for this???? I was going to go tonight but I can't handle 42nd St AMC audiences on opening night if I want to hear anything happening in the movie. So I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I had a pass for a screening last week, but saw We're The Millers instead. Then I had a pass for last night, but stayed home and watched Big Brother instead. BTW, have you registered with Gofobo, for free screenings? I'm sure Manhattan theatres participate.

Jordan, please do report back once you have seen it.
The hubby has expressed interest but the most recent commercial (where the V/O claims it's the "scariest movie ever" three times in a row) made me roll my eyes. If it has your stamp of approval, I'd definitely rethink my position
I am excited for this and very hopeful
I loved The Conjuring for it being virtually free of gore, but if done well, gore can be fun

It's got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, so I'm extremely optimistic.

Jordan is now 16 and lives near a mall? Congrats, Jordy! You must be drinkin' from the fountain of youth?
Yes I'm looking forward to this (and I'm 34 not 16), the reviews are very strong.
I just saw a poster for this yesterday, I just assumed it was going to be a "torture porn" movie.
Have just looked it up on IMDB and the poster is different here in the UK - very plain. black background with You're Next scrawled in red.
Now that i have read that someone in the house fights back I may be tempted to go see it as it sounds a lot better than I imagined.
Look forward to reading your thoughts Jordan - Enjoy!
I will probaby see this and I am more then three times 16 and live in Brooklyn Heights. I just won't see it at The Court Theatre.
I saw a screener a while ago when it was originally going to be released in the US. It's not torture porn. It's home invasion horror. There's a world of difference. One exists just to put gore on screen. The other is actually driven by a plot and characters you grow to care about.
My God, I have mixed feelings on this one.
Part of me wants to say it's as formulaic as they come, but then another part of me is like "That was pretty good". Then another part of me wants to say that it's really nothing more than a gory Lifetime movie. But at the same time, another part of me wants to hail the coming of what's maybe the most badass woman ever to be in a horror movie. And then there's a little part of me that's still cheering the last 10 minutes (well, most those 10 minutes) while that other part of me is still rolling my eyes at the whole thing.
Needless to say, I'm feeling very much like Natalie Imbruglia today.
Jordan - thanks for posting your thoughts. I love a film with a badass woman, I am so going to see this now.
From now on, when lists are compiled of the best women in horror, she's going to have to be right up there with the best of them.
A lot of the critics said its nothing new ( like The Conjuring) but is done so well that it doesn't matter
I agree that it is done very well. But I disagree about the fact that it doesn't matter. To me, it'll take a lot more than this to top the "home invasion" film THE STRANGERS.
But again, it does have its high points and its worth seeing, if just for the lead.
Jordan, you should turn the "women of horror" thing into a thread. I'm always interested in the views people have of women in horror films. Example: I think Sidney Prescott is underrated
Really?
God, I think she's a whiny twit. I can't stand that character.
Give me Laurie Strode.
Well Laurie Strode is the Queen of them all and alway will be.
Obviously, Laurie is at the top of the list, but Sidney took a lot of SH*T and never gave up.
Well I can't argue with that.
