You can tell a lot about a person from the movies they like. Their all-time favorites. Usually they are films that have stood the test of (at least some) time. How old you were when you first saw them, and the mood you were in at the time, usually have a lot to do with their impact on you.
Some are obvious choices, and some not. Here’s a list of my all-time favorites:
1. The Wizard of Oz
2. Gone With the Wind
3. The Sound of Music
4. It’s a Wonderful Life
5. Singin’ in the Rain
6. West Side Story
7. To Kill a Mockingbird
8. The Exorcist
9. Oliver!
10. Psycho

All I know is that Citizen Kane would be on my list.
done this before at least twice.......search
And is the question asking us to pick what we think are the best 10 in an AFI kind of way or what our top 10 personal faves are? Those are two different lists for me!
Maybe you "dones" this before, but I haven't. Nothing comes up in a search for this.
The search engine on this site sucks, because you can't group words together.
Try it yourself first, next time.
Not in an AFI way. My personal list just seems to go with theirs. Just your all-time favorite films. Whatever that means to you.

Yeah, and apparently I'm an old AFI film fart.
But mine was (more or less) already my list before they released theirs nationally. I got teased a lot by close friends. They wanted to know if I had been on some inside committee there. My list doesn't match theirs exactly by any means, but the personal "flavor" is definitely there.
Who knew I was an "institute?" (I belong in one, but that's a different story.)
These are really cool lists you're coming up with. (or "out" with?)
12 bars--your list is great. And, of course, they are great films.
cturtle--I don't know what you are implying, but I don't know any homosexuals and----oh goodness, I can't even TYPE that with a straight face! Ba dum ching!

Elphaba is correct. The OT is littered with threads asking this same question.
Why not simply add ot an existing thread?
This is no different that asking one to name one's top favorite movies.

Here's a recent thread asking for favorite movies.
Is it any surprise that any who reads the lists on this current thread is going to find that approximately 75% of the titles are the same.
If you're going to start a separate thread at least make the question unique...
5 favorite movies set in the South
5 favorite films with scores by Max Steiner
3 favorite horror films that caused you to lose sleep
5 favorite non-MGM musicals
5 favorite comedies of the last 5 years
top 3 Mel Brooks films
5 favorite suspense films
top 3 Westerns and why are their plots relevant to today
top 3 black and white musicals
top 3 prison films
top 5 Clark Gable films, excluding GWTW
Name 3 films that should have starred John Wayne
What 3 films of the last 10 years should have starred Garbo in her prime
A little creativity goes a long way to make the threads interesting.

You know, I'm not gonna lie... I'm kind of intimidated by you Jose'... in a good way though. If that makes sense. You make me want to be really smart and think before I post and check for grammatical errors, most of which I won't catch. Unless it's capitalizing my I's. Yep, that's my thought for the night.
And my favorite movie set in the south is undoubtedly GWTW. I watched it last night, I guess I'm a sucker for what could have been, I wish I had dresses like Scarlett's.
