Americans' Trust in Media Remains at Historical Low
by Rebecca Riffkin
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Four in 10 Americans say they have "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of trust and confidence in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately and fairly. This ties the historical lows on this measure set in 2014 and 2012. Prior to 2004, slight majorities of Americans said they trusted the mass media, such as newspapers, TV and radio

Gallup! The conservative bias in their questions is legendary! They contact me regularly and keeping asking me different variations on the same question: BUT ARE YOU REALLY SATISFIED WITH THE COLLEGE EDUCATION YOU GOT? ARE YOU REALLY HAPPY WITH YOUR SALARY? They really want citizens of an historically liberal place to be unhappy there.
Here is similiar result in another poll.
Poll: 70 percent of Americans believe news media is intentionally biased
USATODAY July 3, 2015
Nearly three quarters of Americans believe the news media reports with an intentional bias, according to a new survey.
The 2015 State of the First Amendment Survey, conducted by the First Amendment Center and USA Today, was released Friday. It shows that only 24 percent of American adults agree with the statement that "overall, the news media tries to report the news without bias," while 70 percent disagree.
When the question was asked last year, 41 percent agreed, a 17-point difference.
Americans are also skeptical about the news media's claim to objectivity. Only about a quarter -- 24% -- believe that the news media try to report on news without bias, a 17-point drop from last year. It's the lowest since the study first began asking this question in 2004.
A flurry of headlines in recent months about the journalistic sins of high-profile media personalities – Brian Williams, who was demoted at NBC for lying; and ABC's George Stephanopoulos, a former aide to then-President Bill Clinton whose contribution to theClinton Foundation came to light recently -- may have negatively influenced respondents' feelings about the news media, the study said.
"These are discouraging results for those of us who have spent our careers in journalism," Ken Paulson, president of the First Amendment Center, wrote in an op-ed for USA Today on Thursday. "In 23 years in newsrooms, I saw consistent and concerted efforts to get stories right. Clearly, the public's not convinced."
Other findings in the survey:
• Only 19 percent of Americans say the First Amendment goes "too far" in the rights that it guarantees. Last year, 38 percent said it went too far, meaning support for the First Amendment has grown.
• 38 percent agree that business owners should be required to provide services to same-sex couples, a 14-point drop from 2013, when the question was first asked.
• 35 percent say the government "should be allowed to deny issuing license plates to a group who intends to display a Confederate flag on the plates," while 56 percent oppose the idea.
There are very few journalists, and very little journalism, in today's media.

" MadBrian do not be such a Debbie Downer. It is not true! There is Brian Williams, oops. I mean George Stephanopolus, oops. Lara Logan, oops. Steve Kroft oops... Nevermind, you are right!
As a reminder, Rachel Maddow is interviewing Clinton, Sanders, and O'Malley (separately) from 8PM-10PM (eastern) on MSNBC tonight.
The camera loves O'Malley .

Does anybody know where I can watch last night's forum online? I missed it and I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to find it.
And the winner of the Republican debate once again was...HILLARY CLINTON.
Hillary Clinton Again Invokes 9/11 to Explain Her Wall Street Fundraising
"At a Democratic presidential debate in Iowa last month, Hillary Clinton was challenged to account for the fact that a large proportion of her campaign fundraising haul has come from the financial sector. She responded with a non sequitur about 9/11. Asked to elaborate, she seemed to argue that her popularity in the finance sector is primarily a result of personal relationships developed in the aftermath of that tragedy in lower Manhattan.
This is a ludicrous response, designed not to actually convince anyone but to change the subject. It’s also a repulsive response, bringing to mind the worst demagoguery of the Bush era, and the debating tactics of world-historical assholes like former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. (Seriously, it’s straight from Giuliani’s playbook, and even Republicans had gotten tired of that **** circa eight years ago.)"

The November Quinnipiac poll has Clinton with 60% and Sanders with 30%.
Her lead widened by 12 points from October to November.

Here's something interesting in an article about Trump...
"On the Democratic side, Sanders polled better in terms of inspiring more people to vote for the Democratic ticket. For Clinton, 42.5 percent of Democrats said she would make them less likely to vote, while 41 percent said her candidacy made no difference. About 16 percent said Clinton's name on the ticket would make them more likely to vote:
For Sanders, 41 percent also said that if he were the nominee it would make no difference. But compared with Clinton, fewer respondents said that having Sanders as the nominee would make them less likely to vote (32 percent), and more said he'd make them likelier to vote (26.7 percent, a full 10 percentage points higher than Clinton):"

I am voting for Hillary for sure. Bernie Sanders doesn't believe in gun control, and his ideas are so farfetched, much like Trump.
Which of his ideas are "farfetched, much like Trump"
Apparently Hillary has been a fan of low wages and union busting since 1986!
Clinton Remained Silent As Wal-Mart Fought Unions
"In six years as a member of the Wal-Mart board of directors, between 1986 and 1992, Hillary Clinton remained silent as the world's largest retailer waged a major campaign against labor unions seeking to represent store workers.
Clinton has been endorsed for president by more than a dozen unions, according to her campaign Web site, which omits any reference to her role at Wal-Mart in its detailed biography of her.
An ABC News analysis of the videotapes of at least four stockholder meetings where Clinton appeared shows she never once rose to defend the role of American labor unions.
The tapes, broadcast this morning on "Good Morning America," were provided to ABC News from the archives of Flagler Productions, a Lenexa, Kan., company hired by Wal-Mart to record its meetings and events.
A former board member told ABCNews.com that he had no recollection of Clinton defending unions during more than 20 board meetings held in private.
The tapes show Clinton in the role of a loyal company woman. "I'm always proud of Wal-Mart and what we do and the way we do it better than anybody else," she said at a June 1990 stockholders meeting."

Trump: Says he will build a wall, and deport the 11 million illegal immigrants.
Sanders: Free state education, expand social security, expand medicaid and medicare, government to pay for health care, 3 months paid family leave. Who's paying for all this?
Not happening!!

Funny how several other countries manage to provide all those things though.
Sorry. Wrong thread.

Most countries don't provide all those things either.
