Republicans might hate her but she is far more moderate than Obama, so I think it's reasonable to think she could have more success bridging the gap.
Liza and Kdogg make excellent points. If she wins I hope she acknowledges who won it for her, black people.
I've been out of the country for my birthday. Has Bernie ended his campaign and endorsed Hillary yet?
His campaign said on Saturday night that it was only beginning and intends to fight to the Democratic convention in July.

All of my friends who will be 18 by the time of the general election or are already 18 have said they are voting for Bernie. But they said they don't want to vote in the primaries which is sort weird to me. They want to vote for Bernie and they know Bernie doesn't have a good shot at the primaries, but yet they are waiting for the general election. Has anybody ever won from being a write in? I have to wonder. I know this just a small sample of people, but I wonder if this is the general assumption for people around my age.

Yes, both presidents Nixon and Reagan won as write-ins. Good luck, Bernie!
Has anybody ever won from being a write in?
Definitely not for president. I think Lisa Murkowski won a write-in campaign for the U.S. Senate several years ago.
Barney will win because the revolution who's not voting for him in the primaries will show up and write him in in November and he will win! It's a revolution!

If Hillary wins it will not be because of campaigning or experience but because of the blacks who she PROBABLY WON'T EVEN THANK FOR "WINNING" IT FOR HER.
I heard it here first. You can twist your point of view so that even her win is not a personal accomplishment for her.
And I just can't see her having any more success with Republican leaders than Obama has had.
Why not? She earned their respect and cooperation when she was in the Senate.
Call_me-jorge, you're referring to the #bernieorbust pledge,* which pretty much states that if Sanders doesn't get the nomination, they'll just write in his name, anyway. They hope to elect him that way, instead.
It sounds like they've resigned to the fact that he won't get the nomination, so they're looking ahead to election day... when they'll write in his name. That's definitely not going to be effective. No president has ever been elected by a write-in campaign. (Not even Bette Davis could win Best Actress that way! :-P) As kdogg36 pointed out, they've probably heard of Lisa Murkowsky (Alaska, 2010) and Strom Thurmond (South Carolina, 1954), who were both elected to the US Senate by a write-in campaign, so they think (or hoping) they can do the same with the presidential election.
Every Sanders supporter I know has committed to supporting HRC once she has secured the nomination. Also, there is no doubt that Sanders, Warren, and all other Dems will unite behind her. I would expect that Sanders's followers would follow his lead.
That said, it looks like the GOP senate leadership may be trying to thread a challenging needle in the general election. I heard that the plan may be to distance themselves from Trump, and push voters to split their ballot to ensure that the Dems don't take over the Senate.

madbrian - the latest reports, which come from reliable sources like Chuck Todd, indicate the serious discussion of a third party candidate through either the Libertarian or Constitutional Party and endorsed by the GOP, which would be unprecedented. They're suggesting someone like Perry or Cruz could run through the Constitutional Party or either of the Pauls (Rand/Ron) on the Libertarian ticket.
Which would lead to an even bigger ****storm. They would have to explain breaking their pledge not to run as a 3rd party candidate, and they would have to ensure getting the down-ticket GOP candidates onto their tickets as well. And I think that process would have to start sooner rather than later, because getting on ballots in all 50 states is not an easy task. And I don't see how that improves anyone's chances but the Dems'.

madbrian - correct. If it happens, it happens by tomorrow. Any candidate who has not filed their papers by end of business tomorrow cannot be eligible for general election ballot in the state of Texas.
If the GOP launches a third party, they know it will backfire. They know it will invariably result in Hillary Clinton in the White House and a Democratic supermajority in both the House and the Senate.
Sucks to be a Republican in 2016.
Mitch McConnell really should be rethinking his decision to block any Obama nominee to the SCOTUS. It looks very likely that HRC will be in a much stronger position in January.
If Mitch McConnell were as smart as you, Madbrian, the GOP would be in much better shape.

That's not what's being bandied about it the intransigent corner of my world. Most of them were from the "I guess I'll accept their friend request" column.

Yeah, maybe it's just that the loudest voices on my Facebook feed are lunatics I went to college with, but most of the Bernie supporters I know are proclaiming they will not vote for Clinton if she's the nominee.
