At a party the other night, we were wondering does anyone ever grow up wanting to be a plumber or does it just happen? (The party was actually very fun...) So then we started thinking of other jobs that surely nobody ever dreams of being.
Did anyone ever say "when I grow up I want to be a manager at Wal-Mart!"?
What jobs do you think nobody ever wanted to be?
I am in a show...check it out?
I think I can safely say no one grows-up wanting to be a manager at Wal-Mart.....
Sherm, what are you doing at Gallery? IT won't let me PM you.
No offense to any managers at Wal-Mart who may read this.
And insurance salesman, or some other mind numbing, paper pushing job.
I'd shoot myself.

Any service industry job, for instance, garbage collector, janitor, dishwasher.
I don't think any kid thinks "I want to work in a cubicle when I grow up!"
I did have a friend that wanted to be a (oh drat, what is it that they call garbage men nowadays...) waste management specialist.
I am doing The Fantasticks out there. I have my PM turned off because I like all my bidd'ness to be out in the open. The show opens Sarturday the 15th. I am Mortimer.
I wanted to be a car wash man when I was 6 or 7. No joke.
Do people really grow up wanting to be the people who maintain/haul port-a-pottys? I always wondered about that.
Many, many people end up doing jobs they don't want to do. That's life, and it's hard.
shermanslave, what do you do for a living?
I wish I had gotten some kind of technical certification like plumbing when I was in college--it would save me from the temp pool i'm treading in...
Is that the pool your puppy is in in your av?
Any job in a meat-packing plant.
one with low-pay, no job security, crazy hours, crazed fans and that forces me to be a waiter by day to make ends meat....
I wish I was in THAT pool!
If you're at one of the ones that is "low pay" and where you have to be a waiter to make ends meet, you're probably not dealing with crazy fans.
honest living. honest living. honest living.

Beat me to it, Michelleruth2. I think that most of the jobs that kids don't aspire to are ones that don't get a lot of attention- middle-management kinds of positions that no one really thinks about unless they have a specific interest in them.
A job I wouldn't want to take on permanently is slush-pile reader at a publishing house. It might be interesting for a while, but how depressing would it be to (probably rightfully) reject 99% of what you read?
Wow, Plum. That's the worst job you can come up with??
I had a temp job for A WEEK in which I did nothing but rearrange papers--I cannot fathom why or how anyone could that for any longer than I did...
I dated a jizz-cleaning boy for a while. Actually, he wasn't a jizz boy when we first started dating; he was working at a movie theater. He took that job later on.
Needless to say, it wasn't his ultimate goal in life.

wow. that might be a job that many here do want....
I don't think anyone wants to work in a dead-end job. Everyone at least likes the illusion that they could aspire to better themselves and do something more in life, but just being stuck in the same place until retirement is just depressing.
