I know JRB was constantly pitching this to Disney, but I am happy its finally getting made. I remember thoroughly enjoying the show on Broadway. Is it a work of art? No, but it definitely be the next teen movie hit for netflix.

Great news! It's a fun show and this could be a great way to get some young newcomers some exposure in the industry. I look forward to seeing this play out.

I saw a youth production of the revised version and I didn't hate it. I think it was one act on Broadway and this one was two acts and had an additional song, "Being a Geek." I'm not a huge JRB fan but it was certainly more enjoyable than High School Musical.

Robert Horn, one of the book writers, hinted very strongly that this was going to happen when he was on Live At Five on Broadway.com back in Tony season. I'm glad he's having a very good year. Hopefully he'll be involved in the writing in some way.

God they couldn't sing their way through that suicidal tragedy--one depressing ballad after another driving the audience to their obvious ending,
Good series though.

Not even mentioning that Brian Yorkey (of, yes, Next to Normal fame) is one of the creators/showrunner(?) of 13 Reasons Why.

Between If/Then, Superhero, and 13 Reasons Why, I'm starting to think that Next to Normal was a fluke. It was simple, timely, had great performances, looked at themes that other musicals hadn't in the past. I haven't really seen anything from Kitt and Yorkey, working together or apart, that has even come close to matching Next to Normal.

Personally I hated the show. I'd rather have a root canal than see it again.
