I’ve heard from a few folks how special the firefly scene is, and I have to assume that wasn’t how it’s presented in the show because it was sort of nothing. Cute, but not a great showcase for what is ostensibly the frontrunner for Best Musical after its early wins."
It’s the reveal of the orchestra and that bit of music that is truly magical in the theater. It’s very unexpected and there’s a turn table and it’s very wonderful. The song that follows it is meh. They should have had more at the front end to set the scene (and maybe a bit of another song) and then ended it with them catching the firefly and no Never Fly Away.

I’m so happy Eureka Day won. It was a perfect revival.

Good, what a fantastic production. But it rose/fell on Hecht and Irwin, so the snub still stings.

100%. I understand the idea that theater is LIVE and so should be presented that way, but the main Tony audience that the performers are catering to are the AT HOME viewers, not the ones at Radio City. And for those viewers, these performances being "live" don't have the same impact.

I do not like the order that these awards are presented. And while we're at it, I wish they'd move Best Score and Best Book back to the main telecast. They can swap with the Best Director awards.

Based solely on musical performances tonight, the only show that's selling any tickets tonight is SUNSET (ands maybe BVSC).
Buena Vista and Death Becomes Her sold some tickets tonight. Sunset has about a month left anyways. Rest of the performances have been dull.

Shows used to do that all the time. From my own experience It was dreadfully dull tosit in the theater and watch the performances on video. I assume the shift to live performances was to bring more electricity to the live audience.

No. Would have preferred 2 minutes or so each from BOOP and Smash.
Did DeBose do the Hamilton performance or did her ego make her stay home?

Well lucky for them, the other performances tonight have all been subpar, which will just add to the "Hamilton is the best show ever" narrative.

The audience seems to disagree.
Nancy Coleman, Reporting from Radio City Music Hall
The way the people in this room reacted to the “Hamilton” reunion was as if Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and, well … the original cast of “Hamilton” had all taken the stage. When Jonathan Groff sang the king’s melody, so did everyone else here.

I have never been a fan of Hamilton. I’ve tried it seeing it twice now, and I just never could understand the obsession with it. Outside of the choreography which was always amazing. It just wasn’t my cup of tea
We failed Hamilton. We elected Trump twice.

A Hamilton reunion felt very "Please Watch Us", but I have to admit, that was a really great mashup.

Did Anthony Ramos not perform or didn’t eyes deceive me?

Agreed.
Where was Ramos? I thought I saw him in the audience earlier so he was there but didnt participate?
Seems especially unfair to ding DeBose, who is now an Oscar winner in her own right and still showed up to dance in the ensemble with her company.
