Sounds like there are going to be about 20-25 plays this season and almost no new musicals.
Which plays are we excited about...Giant and maybe Proof for me.
Giant and Oedipus are the only two shows I’m really excited about.

Looking forward to Dog Day Afternoon.
A lot of plays yet very few comedies- seems like a major missed opportunity.
Bug, Giant, Oedipus, and Liberation (didn’t catch it off-B’way) are all on my list. Would love to see a really good comedy this season, though it seems unlikely.

I love Dog Day Afternoon movie so I'm very excited for the play and the very fitting cast. Proof looks well cast too, I'll be 100% getting a ticket.
Marjorie Prime is my priority play this year because I've never seen Cynthia Nixon on stage and I really want to.
I'll be seeing Bug eventually, but MTC plays didn't impress me in the past few years so I'm cautious with any expectations.
I'm not sold yet on Oedipus and Giant. I'm sure both will be masterclasses in acting, but I'm not committed yet.
Off-broadway I'll be seeing Archuduke and Gruesome Playground Injuries (if I can get a cheap ticket for the latter).
Getting to see “Oedipus” again is my #1

Oedipus is also very high on my list --- Mark Strong & Lesley Manville are two of my favorite actors, and I'm a big fan of Robert Icke -- even when he misses, he often takes big swings (his production of The Orestia at the Armory was incredible.)
I recall going into the original NY production of Bug knowing nothing other than it was supposed to be great and was on the edge of my seat --- and Carrie Coon finally back on Broadway is an event to me.
I missed the first production of Marjorie Prime with Lois Smith so I'd already planned to go - but then the announcement of June Squibb playing the title role made me literally shout with excitement. I'd call that a can't miss.
And while it's still just a prominent rumor, I'd buy tickets for a new production of The Goat with Sarah Paulson in a heartbeat.

Seeing Oedipus, Bug, and Giant again have me quite excited as does the opportunity to see Laurie Metcalf on stage again since I missed Little Bear Ridge Road in Chicago.
Ah yes! Little Bear totally slipped my mind, and I forgot it starts this week. (I caught one of the very few performances of Metcalf's Martha in Virginia Woolf before the COVID shutdown, and she was incredible esp for such an early performance. I hope she'll revisit the role one day....!)

My predictions:
Proof -- Ethel Barrymore
Joe Turner's Come and Gone -- Shubert
Giant -- Music Box

In your theater scenario...which could be true...where does Galileo go. Unless they push that out of the season like Wanted.
