9 to 5 First Preview
9 to 5 First Preview#1
Posted: 4/2/09 at 11:23pmNot sure if anyone is one of the insiders of Broadway; how is 9 to 5 doing? Will it be ready for it's first preview. I know it cancelled a few for more technical rehearsels in L. A., so i was just curious.

Posted: 4/2/09 at 11:27pmI didn't realize it was coming so quickly! Any word on a student rush or anything? I might just splurge and get a real ticket. I feel like it will totally be worth it considering it's got great production values, and well-known performers.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#2
Posted: 4/2/09 at 11:48pmI really hope it's Tuesday night...I have a ticket for that evening (and the remainder of my week is booked solid).

I'm with WAT.
With the recent announcement of two new cast members, it seems weird to me that the producers wouldn't also include an announcement within that one that postponed the first preview. So I'm hoping it's not postponed.

As I noted in the other thread...
Mark stated that they have simplified some things since LA and got a lot of kinks out during LA.. As well, lest we forget.. they postponed the original preview dates to allow for more tech time.. so it should be open by the 7th.

Good point; I forgot they postponed once already. Well, here's hopin'.
I'd hate to miss the first preview, I'm so excited to see it.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#6
Posted: 4/3/09 at 12:15amI also have tickets to the first preview, so I hope it isn't delayed. Do you think Dolly will be there?
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#7
Posted: 4/3/09 at 12:16amI'm also going to first preview and hoping for all to go as planned. I am uber excited to see this!

Am I missing something? Why is whether or not the first preview will go on as scheduled even in question?

re: 9 to 5 First Preview#9
Posted: 4/3/09 at 12:31amAlthough nobody wants it to happen, often times the first previews(s) are cancelled due to technical issues or last minute touch-ups...
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#10
Posted: 4/3/09 at 12:45amYes, and it was postponed more than once, I believe, out of town.

I get that things happen. I was actually one of the audience members who was bumped from what was supposed to be the 1st preview in L.A.
My question was more to ask WHY people seem to be unnecessarily freaking out (in some of the other threads, not so much here) as if they had heard/read some inside scoop about it not being ready? It just seemed to me as though there was a article or quote they were basing their "freak out" on that I had missed. If I am the only one getting that impression then just ignore me.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#11
Posted: 4/3/09 at 1:00amI'm sure that Dolly will be there for most of the first month, through the opening.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#13
Posted: 4/3/09 at 1:04amIt was said in another thread that apparently the show is in good shape but is having major technical problems that possibly wouldn't be ironed out by Tuesday.

How are ticket sales?
Any word on the lotto/rush?
Are there any parts of the Marquis that should be avoided (like, bad sightlines, etc).
Also, I hope they didn't simplify it too much! I love me a big, grand spectacle!
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#15
Posted: 4/3/09 at 1:13amExactly what I mean, rocks. Said in another thread by WHO? Based on WHAT? Rhetorical question...my point is just that I thought we all were better about not believing everything that is posted, especially when BWW (a supposed "official" source) released a nice article today confirming that it begins previews on the 7th as scheduled.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#16
Posted: 4/4/09 at 1:45pmConsiderring how the first previews of 9 to 5 went in L.A., many people would not be suprised if similar techincal issues arose and previews were cancelled here. Also, were any performances cancelled mid performance, or were there only delays?

I don't believe a show was ever performances cancelled mid-way. Since Dolly was there, she just got up and sang until they fixed whatever was wrong.
The audience loved it.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#18
Posted: 4/4/09 at 4:42pmI'm hoping previews go off on time as I hope to snag a ticket for the second preview performance on Wednesday night.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#19
Posted: 4/4/09 at 9:33pmWould cancelling a preview or two affect the opening date. As someone mentioned on another board, the cut off date for Tony eligibility is on the 30th. And from what they said, 9 to 5 is opening on the 30th. It would be a terrible shame if that happened!

Posted: 4/4/09 at 9:37pmTrust me. The producers aren't that stupid. They would still open it on that date no matter what.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#21
Posted: 4/4/09 at 11:06pmwell, i'm seeing it on the friday of the first week, so they better not change it!!!!!!!!!
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#22
Posted: 4/4/09 at 11:46pmI'll be there on May 9th at the 7pm show. I have tickets for the second row-the only thing is that I have seats all the way to the left. Does anyone know how these seats are in the Marquis Theatre? Will they have a bad sightline?
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#23
Posted: 4/5/09 at 12:11amI would think Dolly would indeed be there for the first preview and the opening night. Other times, I wouldn't know. Hopefully they are treating it as if the first preview was sooner so any kinks would be fixed in time for Tuesday evening.
re: 9 to 5 First Preview#24
Posted: 4/5/09 at 7:47amI asked again yesterday about lotto/rush and they said they still don't know. They said they should know by Monday.
