Why the long faces?
Where does that leave WSS???
What larger houses are left (or will be available)??
Might they be hoping for a show to close sometime later this year?
It's weird, isn't it? Esp. because I thought WSS was supposed to start previews way before 9 to 5.
Yay! I can't wait to see Megan back on Broadway!
Nothing has been lined up for the Nederlander, right? WSS could go there...
Good point, Zep.
>Or the Kerr, maybe.<
I don't know about the size of the new production but West Side Story, at least as written, has a cast of 40 and an orchestra of 30. It is not a show that could fit into the 933 seat Kerr, and economically, the Broadhurst, with 1,160 seats, is also too small. Given too that James Nederlander is one of the producers, I would expect it at one of the Nederlander-owned theatres...and my guess would be the Palace.
LEGALLY BLONDE could really close by the winter?

The 30-member cast of 9 to 5: The Musical features Andy Karl, Kathy Fitzgerald, Ioana Alfonso, Timothy Anderson, Jennifer Balagna, Justin Bohon, Paul Castree, Daniel Cooney, Jeremy Davis, Gaelen Gilliland, Autumn Guzzardi, Ann Harada, Lisa Howard, Van Hughes, Kevin Kern, Brendan King, Michael X. Martin, Michael Mindlin, Karen Murphy, Mark Myars, Jessica Lea Patty, Charlie Pollock, Tory Ross, Wayne Schroder, Maia Nkenge Wilson and Brandi Wooten.
GREAT choice of a theatre! Right in the heart of Times Square.
As everyone has done for the past year, people are underestimating the staying power of the Blonde one
We'll see how things look in September, songanddance.
I don't think Blonde is going anywhere for awhile. They've gotten quite a lift from the reality show, and I suspect the winner will carry them through the end of the year, at the very least.
anyone else worried that it's going in the marquis? i mean, the past two shows there have bassically flops...this worries me... can't wait never the less
"the past two shows there have bassically flops"
CRY-BABY was a huge flop, yes, but DROWSY was a hit. The Marquis is flop-prone (WOMAN IN WHITE, NICK & NORA, SHOGUN), but we should only be worried if the book/music/lyrics/direction for 9 TO 5 is sub-par. Let's give it a chance.
drowsy was a hit...it lasted what? a little over a year? thats good...i'm still really excited for this show...mostly cause of megan, she's extremly nice and look at this cast!
all are extremly talented
I wouldn't call Drowsy a flop at all it was very successful, it ran over a year, i think the Marquis is a good fit for the show it doesn't seem like a big big production but it's not a small show so I think it's a perfect match and LB isn't going anywhere
Shows are only hits if they recoup their money, otherwise, no matter how long they run and how critically acclaimed they are, they are technically flops. Something can be a critical hit but not a monetary hit. I think Drowsy did recoup, but I'm not sure.
And, um, ALLISON JANNEY!!!!!!!!!

DROWSY recouped fairly quickly I believe...
