I literally cannot wait for this show. I've heard only stellar, stellar things from people who have seen readings and workshops.
Stephanie is supposed to be great. I'll be buying tickets for this as soon as they're available.
I'm so excited that they announced their theatre! It's getting closer and i'm getting excited for it! Can't wait to see it in LA in Oct and then see the changes they've made when it gets to NY.
Andy Karl be lookin' FINE in those meet the press pics. And Dolly's outfit is fierce.
SO excited for this show!!!!
I'm LOVIN the pictures! This cast is fantastic and I have really high expectations for the show.
SJB is defintely one of the most gorgeous women on broadway, IMO.
I pretty much love every thing Dolly does. That women is so fabulous.
If I recall the West Wing episode The first lady who was a doctor was on sesame street talking to elmo and the muppets about health. Janny sat down and Big Bird sat down next to her and the entire episode up to that point they were joking about her height compared to Big Bird's.
I am really looking forward to this show. So So much.
I always found it humorous when Kristen Chenoweth was on West Wing, seeing her walk with Allison.
Now, as far as 9 to 5, I am so excited, it is definetly one of my all time favorite movies, and seeing Ann Harada listed in the cast is so great. I'm trying to decide who she's playing. I'm wondering if Kathy Fitzgerald is playing Roz, and then Ann is playing Margaret Foster ("the old lush"). Or it could be the other way around. Or they could have new characters. I can't wait to find out.
I know it's been mentioned in this thread already, but seriously, did y'all take a look at our cast and crew list for this thang?
The 30-member cast of 9 to 5:
The Musical features Andy Karl, Kathy Fitzgerald, Ioana Alfonso, Timothy Anderson, Jennifer Balagna, Justin Bohon, Paul Castree, Daniel Cooney, Jeremy Davis, Gaelen Gilliland, Autumn Guzzardi, Ann Harada, Lisa Howard, Van Hughes, Kevin Kern, Brendan King, Michael X. Martin, Michael Mindlin, Karen Murphy, Mark Myars, Jessica Lea Patty, Charlie Pollock, Tory Ross, Wayne Schroder, Maia Nkenge Wilson and Brandi Wooten.
AND THE ENTIRE AWESOME PRODUCTION TEAM!
The production will feature scenic design by two-time Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by five-time Tony Award winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by eight-time Tony Award winners Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, sound design by John Shivers, with musical supervision by Stephen Oremus.
I love the look on Andy Karl's face in this picture. It just screams "Yes, I'm hot. I know"
God, I was afraid of Dolly when I was little. I thought either her boobs fall off and crush me, or her wig would fall off and suffocate me. She made many a nightmare.
edit: and how could I forget those licorice lips! Like the Rocky Horror logo, but bad!
I was wondering the same thing - perhaps Kathy Fitzgerald is Roz or Margaret. That would be a hoot!
Ok, that's it. Where is some video from the press meet and greet? I want video! :) Those pics are great!
EDIT: DOH! Next time I'll search first!

I wouldn't bet on "White Christmas" neccessarily booking the Marquis. I hear it is a battle between them and "Grinch" to book the Marquis with the Grinch having the upper hand because they've shown they can turn a profit in a short run.
Anyone else think it is funny that Steph is the ONLY that has her own script binder?
^
Not really, but I think her leggings are funny. Not hating- I love her.
I'm so excited for this show. Perfect casting.
Am I the only one that though, watching the press video, that Allison Janney (who I adore) sounded terribly flat in the two clips in which they showed her singing?
Stephanie Block, on the other handed, sounded absolutely marvelous.
Very interested to see how this show turns out!
not sure if this broadway.com video has been posted yet - But its great!

This show has so much potential. The draft of the script I read and the songs I've heard are very, very good. the songs are clever, well-written, and full of heart. The fact Dolly has said she wrote 35-40 songs for the show just shows how much she cares and works on it until she gets it exactly right.
The song for Judy/Stephanie is an amazing song. I dont know her competition or category yet, but it's definitely a "Tony-winning" role kind of song.
Having been a Dolly fan for many years, I can't wait to hear what she has come up with. At heart she is a storyteller, so I can only imagine how incredibly her songs will illuminate these characters and situations. And she can easily transition from light and fun to heartbreaking. My most highly aniticipated show of the new season!
"My girlfriend and I...."
Oh, Marc, stop foolin'!
Even with as little as I've heard or seen, I feel like this show is going to be something really wonderful and special.
I'm so excited and I hope it turns out to be as fun as it seems it will.
So much love for this cast especially Stephanie. I can't wait for this show--I don't know how I'm going to make it to May when I'll be able to see it! This is going to sound so lame but I saw Stephanie walking down to rehearsal last week and just knowing where she was going made me smile.
9 TO 5 Facebook group--for those that are interested.
