That seems like a long time to wait, considering it opens next week.

I like it - it's going to be hard for the new songs to compete with the amazing songs in the film.

Some cast albums recently have been recorded and released with a quick turnaround so five months does seem like a bit of a wait since we know post production doesn’t generally take that long. There must be a reason they want to drop the album in March.

One of the reasons I am on the fence on going to see this is because I am a huge fan of the film and its music that I am apprehensive of seeing it told devoid of any of the original music used.

Carlos, two songs are in tact. "Tiny Dancer" actually sounds better because it's not a sing a long, it's professional singers beautifully singing. And "The Wind" is sung gorgeously by Solea who has one of most thrilling, ethereal voices I've ever heard. It's worth seeing just for her. Trust.

This song perfectly sums up what the experience was like for me. Competent, but boring as heck. I can't think of a musical in recent memory where I was so bored.

I’m always a bit confused when shows choose to wait so long after opening to release their cast albums. In todays world, a cast album has to be one of the most effective marketing tools in getting people interested in a show, so I would assume they would want to get them out as quickly as possible.

I think The Music Man waited so long to release their cast recording so as many people as possible could see it. Unfortunately, more shows will follow this formula. I thought March 17th was a typo, it seems ridiculous.

I can understand Music Man not having to rush to get it out, as there was plenty of hype around the show just by virtue of Hugh & Sutton's name recognition. Plus, with it being a revival, almost everyone knows the music by now. Almost Famous, on the other hand, would be a show that I suspect could only benefit by getting a cast album out as soon as possible.

Jordan Catalano certainly wasn't wrong about the late '60s to early '70s vibes. The first two chords of the song they just released are literally the first two chords of "Rocket Man."

Everyone has said that. Shockingly, he isn't the Messiah of BWW. Thank God.
Also, everyone who has seen or even heard of the movie know it's about that music era. Not a mystery, Brah.

It seems like they've been quietly dropping tracks for this, as The Real World came out today but I don't think I saw a press release or anything.

The album sounds crisp and clear. The vocal pyrotechnics are impressive. I didn’t get to see the show but I love the film and I love this score so I’ll be forever scratching my head why this didn’t catch on with audiences.

Wasn't the biggest fan of the show itself but I found the score absolutely ravishing. And this cast glorious. Their voices are incredible and this album has something that I feel most (not all) contemporary cast albums have: the cast sounding absolutely in love with what they are singing. I can feel their energy, love and passion for the music, the story, and for each other literally pouring through their performances. I will be having this on repeat many a summer night.

I didn't love the show when I saw it (maybe because I didn't love the movie?), but I remember thinking "1973" was one of the best opening numbers I had heard in years, and that the vocal talent on stage was great. I stand by it, having had the chance to listen to it again on the cast album (though yes, I know I'm a bit late given that track dropped ages ago).

It’s a gorgeous album for a now forgotten show for most people. Bummer.
