I’m seeing this two weeks from today when it comes to Pittsburgh, only the second stop of the tour after the launch in Schenectady. Anyone going next week? I know almost nothing about the show, and haven’t even started listening to the OBCR. Is it worth buying? Any thoughts on the songs, music, and cast?

I personally like to go into a show knowing nothing so I don’t want to expect anything. I don’t listen to the cast recording and I don’t watch anything on YouTube. I did this for Anastasia when I saw the Broadway production and it worked great. I’ve seen the Broadway cast twice now and seeing it again twice next year, and the tour cast once when it comes to Philly.
I would wait and listen to the cast recording until after seeing the tour. Same with the movie. Don’t want the movie until after seeing the tour.

This will most definitely break my routine, but it looks like I’ll go into this show exactly that, not knowing what to expect. At all. The cast, songs, and set designs will be, for the most part, all virtually unknown to me. I’ve seen only a couple of pictures here and there on BWW of the Broadway show. Guess I’ll just sit back and let it happen. Hopefully we’ll still hear from some forum members when the show opens in Schenectady.

Does anyone know if this is playing the Pantages or Ahmanson when it hits Los Angeles? I assume the former.
I generally try not to listen to OCR prior to seeing a show.

Personally I usually listen to a cast album beforehand so I can know what to expect in terms of musical narrative. Because theatre is where I don’t mind spoiler alerts

I don’t see LA on the tour’s website. When is it playing, in your 2019/2020 season?

As far as OBCR, I’ve pretty much listened to every single one I could get my hands on. Just for some reason I’m not eager to pay $20 or whatever for a CD of this show. I’m trying to get excited about this show, but after so many amazing performances in NYC, Cleveland, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh over the past 10 months straight I’m just kind of fatigued at listening to music. If that’s even possible or understandable.

Well for On Your Feet I didn’t listen to the OBCR, instead I listened to Gloria Estefan’s original recordings.
I really like the show. I saw it twice on Broadway. A lot of people here truly dislike it, but I think it's adorable and moving.
(A lot of it has to do that I grew up with the movie, so...)
A cast member said on a instagram live that the song Crossing a Bridge has been cut.

It has been cut from all productions outside of the Broadway, and replaced with a reprise of Paris Holds the Key for Anya - they aren't doing it in Madrid either than the creative team has confirmed its removal going forward.
Does anybody know if "Crossing a Bridge" is going to be replaced on Broadway too?

^^ That’s very unexpected. I haven’t seen the show yet but I’m pretty sure whatever changes are done won’t be a big deal as long as quality is maintained
Seeing the show tomorrow night at beautiful Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady NY. (Tour is starting here - they have been in residence getting the show ready for the last few weeks .) I will plan to report back. I have seen the show in NY. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Looking forward to your report. We’re the 2nd stop on the tour (Pittsburgh) and it’ll be nice to hear some thoughts before I dive into this thing head first.
I wonder if they’ll end up cutting the number from the Broadway production - when Wicked made changes upon the West End opening, they implemented the changes to all productions a few months later.
I’m surprised they are cutting it from future productions though! It’s a very pretty song, and has become a favorite of musical theater girls to cover on YouTube (and in singing auditions).

It is a beautiful song, but I always have felt it kind of stops the energy flat at that moment. I think a reprise of Paris Holds The Key can get the same emotional beat across but without stopping the forward motion as much.
Some reading material while we’re waiting on word from Schenectady...

Disappointed b/c it establishes a connection to her grandmother. Again, I do like the Hartford version much more and I don't know why they cut half of the song. The Breath and hold tight belt was my favorite part
And interesting enough, baby Anya wears her princess dress from the parade in the finale. Does anyone know they have the transformation as well?

I first saw Wicked at the Pantages after the West End changes. Wasn’t too disappointed
Saw the show this past Friday night in Schenectady. I am no expert on this show but the production seemed the same as when I saw it in NY. All the performances of the touring cast were excellent, as were the costumes and set. Great show!

Thanks very much
seeing some photos online, the set seems the same but flat (not curved) is that so or just the angles of the photos? Also there was a rather impressive photo showing the paris opera staircase, I cant recall that on broadway (but i might have just forgot) seems they are using the larger stages well by expanding out the set.
The curved versus flat was the one part of the set that I thought was different but I could not recall for sure. My guess is the design was changed to accommodate the different size stages at various theaters.

THANK YOU for the report. I’m still going in almost “blind” to this show. It’ll be a first for me. Haven’t had time to download or listen to the OBCR.
If anyone has links to the Schenectady shows pls post them. I’d love see something of the sets and costumes before I see it Sunday, as the tour starts tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
