I am selling an OOP paperback copy of the HBO films tie-in copy of "Angels in America", along with two stagebills from a Chicago production of "Angels" done by the Hypocrites Theatre Company.

I was at this afternoons performance and had the lottery seats. Orchestra, Left towards the front on end of the row so it was a slightly obstructed view. After the first intermission I moved to the rear orchestra for a much better FULL view where there were a bunch of empty producers seats. The performance was also being filmed so there were a few cameras set up and because of that many seats went unsold. It also appeared this performance coincided with a American Theatre Wing Gala. It appeared many hot shot producers and broadway executives took over the orchestra seats giving it a feel like TONY night. I recognized a few A List celebrities...Deborah Messing, and Patric Wilson as well as Ben Shenkman (who I later discovered were in the film version of the play.)
I wish I could rave about the production like most of the other reviews here, but sadly the play did not emotionally speak to me. I was probably the only one though since the audience loved it and the cast took 3 curtain calls. After the show I waited at the stage door for a few minutes. It was not too crowed and Nathan Lane did exit via stage door but as expected quickly walked into his awaiting ride. I saw a few other cast members come out, but didn't feel like waiting for Andrew Garfield. I will say the performances were all superb.
I also stopped by the box office to find out when they sold out of rush and they said 30 minutes after they opened. A few people asked for pics of the merchandise which I took, but still don't know how to upload them here.

If you put them on Instagram or Twitter, you can just post the links on here. If you are uncomfortable with that, please PM the links because I really need to know what colors the shirts are, and all the other stuff. Thank you so much in advance!
We saw this last Thurs/Friday. I can understand that's it's a tough sell for two parts and I wouldn't want to do both in one day. I found the production superb! Nathan Lane does being more comedy to the role of Roy Cohn but i believe it works. I wasn't sure about Andrew Garfield but by the end of the first act I was all for him. Pryor is dramatic in everything and he brings the right drama/camp to the role. i also really enjoyed all the other supporting players. I found that Lee/Joe Pitt got better in Part 2. He was a bit stiff at t he beginning which could be a character choice but I thought he was the weakest of the cast.
It appeared that they were having some lighting difficulties. Some people were in full light and others half light in the same scene which did not work for even it it was done for dramatic effect. I also like the minimal set pieces and rotating stage area. yes, it's a darker take than the original but it works especially in these times and very relevant to today.
As posted earlier, there was a glitch before the Mormon diorama scene and the stage manager came over the loud speaker. Though the audience wasn't sure if it was part of the play or not, it wasn't, and we waited for about 5 minutes and they repeated the beginning of the scene.
The play is exhausting but so worth it. I saw the original AIA and this production more than holds it weight against that one.

When I first saw this production one year ago, I was completely blown away. Everything is masterful. Direction, staging, writing and performances. Garfield gave an extraordinary performance and was the easily MVP of the show. I also loved Mrs Gough and Nathan Lane. The rest of the cast were very good, even if they weren't really perfect. As the show is basically the same on Broadway, I believe my opinion must count haha

"Does Andrew Garfield has any scheduled days off? There’s noting listed on TM as far as I can see yet. Looking into performances the week of the Tony Awards. What's attendance like then?"
A more urgent version of the question would be how about Olivier Awards?

I am bumping this again to see if anyone can tell me around what time the intermissions occur for Part I and Part II? (We are going to a two-show day, but I can certainly convert the times from evening performances if that is all you have). I just need to know about what time I can check in by phone at home.

I saw it on a Thursday/Friday combo, both parts start at 7pm, for part 1 the first intermission was at around 8:10, second one around 9:20 and I was out of the theater by 10:35. There was delay when I saw part 2 which caused the first intermission to happen at 8:40, the delay was about 10 minutes so it’s probably around 8:30 on a regular night... don’t remember the second intermission time... I could be slightly off, but it should give you an idea at least...
Thanks. This is helpfull
So I went back tonight to see Perestroika and updated my blog post:

Excellent New Yorker article on Marianne Elliott and the plays. Contains some minor spoilers about staging choices.
Love this—
“The play, for me, is about erosion,” Elliott said. “We strip away walls. We strip away revolves. We strip away anything that isn’t essential to the piece. And then we strip away illusions.”
If press day was last Saturday , when is opening night ?

The first part definitely speeds through the way it is set up and you get to know the characters. It doesn't feel like 3 and a half hours.
The second part is where this falters a bit as it does get conceptual and theoretical as the world broadens. There are no more segmented parts. Everyone is intertwined in some way. The acting is still superb and Andrew Garfield is phenomenal especially the I AM A PROPHET line which got a huge cheer from the audience. The ending was...a choice. Not my favorite. Glad I did this in two nights and not one day. Its better to experience it that way especially having seen Cursed Child in the same way.

Looking at getting the $99 per part code tickets. Better off in Orchestra Row V or Mezzanine Row L (both center)? Can also do Row U orchestra on side but not aisle. Thanks.
Guys there is some extended footage of the OBC in Angels in America.

Wow. I can understand the people who said that the OBC was unbeatable now. The footage they have is amazing.
Ivy,
I couldn’t hear any of the dialogue on the video, but I was on my bad iPhone.
I saw Part 1 of the original production in NYC in 1993. I came to NY from Philly (where I was a closeted graduate student in a field where being openly gay would have ended my career). I loved the production. I got autographs from all cast members (except Ron Liebman, who had a car waiting). And R/T from Philly-NY-Philly via SEPTA and NJ Transit was ~$23.
(I saw 2 other plays in NYC in my Philly years 1991-5: Jeffrey by Paul Rudnik and Kiss of the Spider Woman with Chita Rivera *got her autograph*. Can you sense a gay/closeted/AIDS-phobic theme?)
I didn’t see part 2 in NY, but I saw it at the Kennedy Cenfer ~1995-6. I hated it. Long, windy, overblown. In desperate need of an editor. I think it was the official tour.
This year I only had a ticket for Part 1, even though I was curious to see Lee Pace nude (I saw him nude years ago in The Credaux Canvas.)

Sempreliberal thanks for the memories! I think MA stands on its own as a great play. Perestroika seems like an overlong tag-on to MA. I went to see Perestroika again just because I wanted to say that I had seen it. But in the future I will prpbbaly only see MA.

Denise Gough was the MVP of this production for me. Nathan Lane is brilliant. Andrew Garfield is giving a very loud and showy interpretation but I was not as won over as some others seems to be. James McArdle is giving a stunner of a performance. Lee Pace is serviceable. The hours fly by. I may be in the minority, but I have always preferred Perestroika and this production only furthered that preference. The set change with the snow is magical. The camaraderie among the audience was beautiful. A snowy day in NYC spent watching a top notch production of Angels in America. Not a bad day to me. I'll be making a return visit, albeit on two separate nights this next go around.

sorry if previously discussed... did they keep the original nudity in the show? Wondering what age it's suitable for.
