I want to hear this SOOOO bad.
The samples will be available on the Annie show website shortly
I saw Ed Helms as Andy Bernard sing "You're Never Fully Dressed" on "The Office" last night... he was oddly charming as an old vaudeville type.
If they're not interpreting all black as ALL black, I wouldn't mind seeing him as Bert in the Annie reboot (if they keep that character). Besides, I imagine it could be an interesting juxtaposition between the clean, almost stately "white" ragtime style versus the livelier take the orphans are sure to have in that song.
Would anyone be willing to send me the album threw email? I would be extremely happy!

Me too! I need to hear this!
I would also love a copy, I've always had a soft spot for "Annie".

I'm dying to hear it too -- I'm going to buy it, probably both digitally and a copy of the album, but I'd love to hear this asap. Wish there was a way to get ahold of it.

You guys are hilarious. ddenoff2 clearly works for Annie or Shout Factory in some capacity and you guys are asking for an illegal copy of the CD on an open forum. Smart.

If I can get samples, I'll be able to hold off till the 28th. Unfortunately, it sucks that shout! decided to wait so long to release it. With that said, without shout! we would not have a recording, which I am extremely grateful for!
Yeah... got a copy of this today. It is probably one of the worst cast recordings I have heard. A lot of the songs have like 10-15 seconds of the dialogue leading into the song, which is extremely awkward. The cuts made to the songs to skip the longer orchestra solos literally killed me. Annie's orchestrations are epic, WHY cut that, but add pointless dialogue? Lilla Crawford sounds awful (not how she sounds in the actual show at all), and Katie Finneran (who I ADORE), sounds dreadful. The added sound effects of Miss Hannigan pouring and chugging a drink during Little Girls really bothered me.
Luckily this season we have been VERY fortunate with some really great cast recordings... Kinky Boots is just a wildly entertaining and delightful listen, Cinderella sounds like the orchestra is being conducted by God himself, and DROOD is just classic Broadway magic. The Annie cast recording has nothing going for it.

I got mine too. I agree some things are odd...agree the dialogue lead-ins for a few of the songs make them sound choppy. And I would also enjoy hearing some of the dance/background music even if there is no singing attached to it..so that's sort of sad too to miss that.
But I like Lilla's sound on the CD for the most part (though I agree it doesn't quite due her justice but I am a huge fan regardless) and I am thrilled to have the recording of Anthony's version of Daddy Warbucks, who would sound amazing under any circumstances. That's worth it to me alone. Kids sound fine, some of the updated orchestrations sounds great to me also.
From a production angle, I am impressed that they gave the musicians equal billing as the actors on the CD liner notes...usually you have to squint to read their names. So it's nice to see the musicians appreciated.
Overall, it could have been improved but I am very happy I have it.

You're all so full of SH*T.
"Just send me a link and I promise I'll buy it when it comes out!!!"
BULL. SH*T. I swear to God, the Internet had created the most rieiculous sense of "NOW! NOW! NEED TO HAVE IT NOW!!"
Can't get to the theater to buy it this week? BOO F'IN HOO. Sit on your ass an wait for it like the rest of the world. You're not special. And that "link through email" you want hurts our chances of getting more cast recordings. But it's not like you care because you MUST HAVE THIS RIGHT THIS SECOND.

unfortunate to hear about the missing orchestrations [VERY odd to be removed]
as for the dialogue you can change where you want a song to start on itunes. That should fix that problem.
Why do people say Lilla doesn't sound how she does? I'm most excited to hear her versions of the songs!

Oh, and let me add that the accents the kids use is even more atrocious on the album than in the theta-uh.
only $25 !!!!!
how is it that theatre merch booths can over charge for the cast CDs? it's on Amazon for $17, which will go down closer to street date as they always put them on sale.
Well, you get it there early in the moment and they can charge what they want. Buy it on Amazon and you also pay S&H so it's over $20, plus you wait for it to arrive. If you want it right this second today, you can get it for $25 at the theater.
amazon is free sipping if you bundle your purchases or get free shipping codes. i know labels set a 'suggested list price' that stores are held to..... so i feel theeatre merch booths should NOT rape the consumer considering the economy and the high price of tickets to the show.

Don't get so excited. This cast album is a huge let down. The overture is pretty much the only thing worth listening to.
I enjoyed the cast album. The orchestra is pretty much fantastic (I love the new arrangement they did for Tomorrow). Lilla sounds wonderful to me! She had a very powerful belt but I do agree that the accents are very annoying and they could have done without them for the album. Anthony is just great and Katie Finneran well is decent. I actually think I like Jane Lynch's recording of the songs superior to Katie.
I really enjoy the new orchestrations of the songs especially Easy Street. Clarke Thorell actually gives a very good performance as Rooster on the album. Really, the accents are my only complaint for the album and the pointless Act Two opening "Meanwhile at NBC Rockefeller Center Radio City...." and "Meanwhile in the Oval Office in Washington..."
Other than that, I find it to be a pretty decent cast album.
