^ Steve said that Barbra said that it was a bad role in a bad musical and that she was right, clearly she made the right decision.

Loved the "being alive" line too, haha.

I'd also like to chime in on the idea of bringing it to Broadway. It'll never work. Even with an incredible cast like this, it wouldn't do well. Sure they can pull it off and make it into a campy, fun show, but I can’t see it being successful at all. That's why I admire Encores for giving shows like this life, even just for a few performances. I am definitely glad I caught this.

"With so Little To Be Sure Of" a new favorite song of mine from Stephen Sondheim. I never new which show so many great Sondheim songs came from. Thanks to Encores I discovered they were from Anyone Can Whistle . I have trouble moving when I listen to “ With so Little To Be Sure Of “ it takes me on journey far away and I see so many things in life clearer. Other great songs that home are “There Wont be trumpets “ and title song “Anyone can Whistle” . I loved Berenadette Peters from recording Carnegie Hall but Sutton Foster , Donna Murphy , & Raul Esparza don’t disappoint and are in her company.

I'm fighting back tears every time I hear With So Little To Be Sure Of - absolutely one of Sondheim's greatest songs.

I didn't see the Encores show but I did see a production of ACW in London recently which featured the original book (of course) and it played great. I'm not so sure it couldn't have a Broadway run with a first class production.

Mallardo, are you talking about the Jermyn Street Theatre production of it?

to people who asked, Donna came out of the stage door around 1 am after the saturday night show. I only heard from a fellow stage door-er, I saw the show then but had to leave at 12:30 am. still, Raul and Sutton did come out and were both so nice.

anotherhundredpeople2, I was at the stage door on Saturday night also and I think you are off by an hour. Donna Murphy came out right before midnight. She didn't come out until about an hour and forty minutes after the show ended, but she had a lot of visitors (her parents and her sister came out with her, along with some other folks).

I thought Donna, Raul, Sutton, and the rest of the cast were all incredibly gracious and nice.

There were a million people backstage for Donna that night, I could barely move back there!

ah, you're right about the hour off.
those who I did meet *were* extremely kind and took the time to sign everyone's playbills and take photos and such.

Kad, yes, the Jermyn Street production. I loved it.
