Julia Murney's voice used to bug me, but after seeing her as Elphaba, I LOVE her.
Nathan Lane totally bugs.

Nancy Anderson is awesome!
Yeah, except she couldn't find the right pitch with a map and a flashlight.

edit; to throw in Patti, Charlotte, and Carolee. I like all 3 of them, but sometimes listening to any of their recordings can just push me over the edge.

And, here's a question for everyone: when does a vibrato become a tremolo? I've honestly never understood the distinction.

And while I tend to not like Betty Buckley's voice very much on recordings, it's electric hearing her sing live. Her voice was made for theatre.

I don't recalll her singing that way live for "Smile," and certainly not for "The Little Mermaid."
Sarah Brightman's vibrato on the Phantom cast album is mildly irritating. Her voice (and her vibrato specifically) have vastly improved over the years. She's still not one of my favorites, but I admire the fact that she has continued to grow as a singer.
Most singers (no matter how good) don't show that much positive change vocally. It's usually a decline over the years. Especially for sopranos.

I saw her in POTO last April. From what I remember, she didn't do "Think of Me" that badly at all. I liked Howard McGillin better, though.

I'm not a music major, I'm not gonna pretend to be able to give a scientific definition. I was just saying there were a few people here who are even more clueless than I am.

i also find it hard to believe that idina menzel once was a classical singer. I'd love to hear some of her arias.
