Do we realy need a new thread every time someone flubs a line in a show? It's live theater for cryin' out loud. When I "pay good money" to see a show, it's with the knowledge that I'm seeing a live performance where anything can happen. Wasn't there a thread a while back where people shared examples of mistakes they had seen on stage. It was lighthearted and not meant to point out the deficencies of the performers. But starting a thread specifically for one performance is pretty lame. Pascal will move on with his life, but I think he is right that the kind of people who do this are the kind of people who nitpick other performances or restaurant meals or ice cream cones...or every little thing in their lives. We all know them. We work with them. We're related to them.
With regard to the term "bullying," some overzealous legislative bodies would have us believe that pretty much any comment that hurts someone's feelings is bullying.

I would like to just state he has the right to vent on HIS FACEBOOK. And to people who state facts use the whole facts. Case in point comments were made about hm reading lines in rent, be aware that this was atthe begnnng of the show. And as for letting it go. Maybe he just had to get it off his chest first, I ask all o u this who use facebook, do u not vent.

No one said he doesn't have the right.
... to his dreams?
Oh lordy. Oh. my. lordy.
In fairness, Renart, the original thread wasn't so much about Pascal's flub as the general poor state of CHICAGO as a whole.
I agree with most people here that this situation in particular didn't warranted the sort of reaction he had.
But, I also have to say that sometimes I also get a bit overwhelmed by the negativity a lot of people love spreading around here.

"Pascal, forgive me, is a hack"
Thats complete crap. You might not like some of the things he says but he is definitely not a hack. He is a tony nominated Actor and has clearly has made a great name for himself in the Broadway community. To call him a Hack is outrageous.
Lol, so has a history of reading the boards. I love how he made it sound like he decided to randomly check the board and surprisingly came across about a post about himself. I bet he checks this site daily.

Lizzie, I'll give you a thousand dollars if you post that to his Facebook.

Constantine Maroulis is also a Tony nominated actor.
He hasn't originated a role on about ten years. His Broadway appearances are sporadic and often replacements in long running hits.

When someone starts a rant by mentioning that rarely check the boards you can bet money that person in a very frequent visitor.

One can start out non-hacky and eventually transition to hack. See Stephen King, for one.

He sounds like his screen name could be AfterEight

Not a single person here has argued that he doesn't have the right...the consensus is that he was foolish to have done so. I'm pretty sure people here have the right to post their thoughts regarding such on THIS MESSAGE BOARD.
lousy post. i took it back

I bet kids who are bullied for being gay would rather be called line flubbers than fags, that's for sure.
I'm also pretty sure he posts here.

That doesn't prove anything. Just because an actor doesn't work on broadway as frequently as Sutton Foster or Audra doesn't mean they are hacks. Susan Egan hasn't been on broadway for awhile does that make her an hack? Idina Menzel hasn't done a broadway show in awhile, is the tony WINNER a hack also? Yeah didn't think so. Last time i checked you don't base talent on how many times someone originates a role. Its laughable to view to someone as a hack based on how many shows they do. Completely ridiculous.

I think the phrase you're looking for is "completely ridiculous."
But he's a hack!
Summertime, and the trollin' is easy...
When I saw the show, he peed on stage. I don't start a thread about it because that would have been bullying.
I think he was a total douche by whining on FB, but I must say that the thread had a lot of posts that either implied or outright said he should be fired.
It's still not an excuse for making himself look like a fool, but I'm wondering if it was that aspect of the thread that upset him so.
Lordy. Talk about mountains out of molehills.
Anyway, I guess I'm on Adam's side. Because he might be more sensitive to negative criticism than what you ticket-paying people consider worthy of being on a stage, I think you are unreasonable. He's on the stage because he's talented. So what if he felt like venting.
And his venting is warranted. You paid for a ticket so you are totally offended that someone in the show forgot a line? WHAT ARE YOU NUTS?
And comparing a surgeon messing up a procedure to an actor forgetting a line - WHAT ARE YOU NUTS?
I don't know any actors who haven't gone up on a line. I think you people who are complaining that he's too sensitive and doesn't belong in this business, or that you PAID for a ticket and expect every single iota of it to be perfect, get off your high horses and get a grip.
It's obvious to me that most of you CAN NOT do what he does because if you could, you wouldn't be complaining and whining. You'd totally understand because you probably would have gone up on your lines at least once.
Rant over- this really got me going!
