The Tina website does not give any specific times when she will be in or out of the show. Before the shutdown, I thought I used to see a schedule on the website for when she'd be in. Does she usually not do the 2pm on Saturdays? I know there's no guarantee, so just looking for suggestions when she's more likely to be in. Thanks. :)
With all her recent attitude towards the Broadway community, I’m curious IF she’s returning to TINA.
BroadwayBrat, I was "Tina" in late January, and Adrienne was doing Saturday matinees. She was not doing Saturday nights. When I bought my ticket, I wanted to make sure that I saw her as you would never think that the lead would do a Saturday night performance. It was quite a surprise when I got to the theatre, and opened up the Playbill, to see in the credits that her alternate did Saturday nights.
You were Tina in January and you don't think a lead would do a Saturday night performance?

I had a similar experience years ago for Miss Saigon. I had a Saturday night ticket, to find Lea didn't do Saturday nights. Back then, I thought how crazy was that. Saturday night was expected to be the night that all leads performed. Was the beginning for my bitterness.
They recently announced she will be starring in a six-part miniseries for ABC as Emmett Til's mother. As she's the first casting, I wonder how it'll affect her return to the show. They hopefully have all summer to film it, but I wonder.

She has already stated she’s returning, but I don’t know her alternate schedule.
And that mini-series is at least already partially filmed.
There is usually a note when buying tickets regarding a certain actress in a role. Example being Laura Benanti in My Fair Lady.

Does anyone think her recent comments toward the Broadway community will affect the Tony race? She was certainly a lock pre-shutdown. But could the Tonys take a “political” stance against her and Karen Olivo and give the award to the only other nominee, Elizabeth Stanley for JLP?
I’m not saying they should, I’m just interested to hear thoughts on whether recent events will affect that category.

Go away. Forever.
Does anyone think her recent comments toward the Broadway community will affect the Tony race?
Absolutely.
The mods are extra cute lately, but I stated that V should be banned and Playbill Trash is awesome for context :)

Just wondering, as the person that asked the question about the Tonys, should I go away forever? Or were you referring to someone else?
Also, if you do think it will affect the Tonys, what do you think the outcome will be? Thanks!

Thanks Sutton! You're awesome too!
Yea, I watched the IG video of Adrienne Warren's remarks at that rally and that's when I started wondering if she's fumbling her Tony at the one yard line.
There are only 3 nominees in that category: Adrienne Warren (Tina), Karen Olivo (Moulin Rouge), and Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill).
Adrienne Warren was an absolute lock according to the buzz around the show. The reviews said she was the reason to see the show, and even in what the full season would have been this year, the buzz declared that she would have dominated. (I saw the show in February 2020 - with her understudy, actually - and agree that the rest of the show around the role of Tina is not strong. Her understudy was fantastic btw and would make an excellent alternate or replacement depending on how things turn out). But I agree with you, the community probably won't take kindly to her remarks about how the industry is run, could feel directly insulted by her, and that could cost her the award.
Karen Olivo has certainly made headlines with her decision to not even return to the show she is nominated for, and a lot of the reactions to her decision have been that it is not a very productive move for any cause. That could certainly affect how voters vote, again - they could be insulted by her as well. (I saw this show on the same Feb 2020 trip - with her understudy as well, coincidently - and thought the show was wonderful no matter who is in the cast. Except for Danny Burstein who deserves to win. But the cast is not the attraction for that show, it's the production design and the use of their music catalog). But all things being equal in a full season she may not have even been nominated since the show really outshines her.
This leaves Elizabeth Stanley, who is the only other nominee by absolute default! There were literally no other leading female roles in musicals that opened in time to be eligible for this season other than these 3, and they all got nominated. I personally believe that is the only reason she was nominated (and maybe the same reason for Karen Olivo to be honest). But given that the other 2 nominees could have shot themselves in the foot, could that make both musical lead acting categories one-person-races? I don't know. (For the record, I did not see Jagged Little Pill and am commenting on this actress's performance without actually seeing it myself. Oh dear, I might be the first person on this message board to do that....).
Yeah, it's completely up in the air at this point. I do hope she comes back though.

Regardless of anyone’s opinions on Ms. Warren’s activism; there is no denying she is a force of nature. Not only does she deserve a Tony Award for her performance as Tina, but the work she’s doing out in the streets and online for change in the Broadway Community only adds to the type of artist she is. She is the definition of a leader in the community right now.
Everyday we seem to hear a bit more about how Broadway is evolving. I saw the Shubert Organization put something out about the steps they’ve taken. It’s a start. And good on them for sharing it. I hope it inspires other corporations.
Adrienne Warren had her Tony Award in the bag Pre-Pandemic, she still does. For the performance and for being who she is offstage.
Highly suggest some of her IGTV videos with her public speeches. Incredibly inspiring.

The Tony voters cast their votes between March 1 and March 15, 2021. So anything that occurred after March 15 can have no bearing on the results. Adrienne will get her Tony.
Updated On: 6/1/21 at 11:39 PMWarren deserves the Tony and she will get it. There is a good chance Tony voters support her beliefs and viewpoints. Also, if she were to happen to lose it’s not a big deal. A Tony win does little to nothing for a creative anymore. Your talent books you work and Warren is mad talent. She will book lots of work. It’s almost like the goal now is to get a high profile role on Broadway that gets you noticed so you don’t have to come back.

I mean I feel like that’s how it’s always been! Ha you get famous enough to never have to do it again. 8 shows a week is a lot.
I don’t see how Adrienne was a lock pre-pandemic, when she would have been competing against Sharon D Clarke in Caroline, or Change - who also won the Olivier over Adrienne. If anything, the pandemic has helped her chances. Both gave Tony award worthy performances in my opinion, though it’s hard to compete with a role like Caroline (recognise in 2004 things didn’t really go this way - a race between Donna Murphy and Pinkins and the award went to Idina? Surprising).

And this is one of the few benefits of separate Tony ceremonies celebrating the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons: both Warren and Clarke can be first-time winners.

I follow her on Instagram and though she doesn’t post on the photos portion she’s very active on her Instagram Stories and she gets quite bitchy and nasty towards the Broadway community. She even had nasty comments to say about COME FROM AWAY and DIANA being filmed. She’s quite toxic.

That’s right, I forgot when I made my previous post that voting opened and closed in early March. Considering that, I think she’d certainly get the votes to win.
I wonder if she knew that prior to those marches, that the voting was done and thought that she could speak her mind without hurting her chances of winning?
Or maybe she thought it was important to speak her mind - regardless.

Yea, maybe! And I agree - it didn't sound like she put a lot of thought into the repercussions, regardless of how people would react to what she was saying.
