Rest of my crew seeing POTO on the 2/8 matinee, and since I just saw it a few months ago I'm thinking I'll try and see either Hadestown or...well, I really want to see Hadestown. Any advice for getting a great seat at a great price? I'd maybe consider Funny Girl or even Leopolstadt.

I don’t think you should have a hard time trying the box office day of. Since there are 2 shows on 2/8 you’ll have better luck at rush. Funny Girl doesn’t have rush for Lea (I believe) though.

I was going to ask about lottery - via Lucky Seats. Is this a good resource? My big dilemma is that we are getting into the city and headed straight to lunch before the show (44th and 9th), so box office might be a stretch cutting it close to curtain. Not sure if there will be anything left at TKTS booth, but maybe I can go there first before lunch.

Not true. TKTS often gets unused House Seats just before showtime.

Yes Funny Girl does standing room when sold out (which I think it usually is), though those tickets may also sell out fairly quickly. Make sure you allot enough time to get to the TKTS booth and then whichever theater you'll be going to as sometimes the booth may have a line (though hopefully it won't be long before show time), and you can use the app to check if the shows you're interested in have tickets there beforehand, as well as the price range of available tickets.
Hadestown is on TDF for that performance, so it stands to reason you could probably get a decently priced ticket. Definitely enter the lottery through Lucky Seat, and you'll know the day before or so if you've won (though be warned that seats could potentially be partial view). If TKTS doesn't have anything you'd want sometimes the box office will take off premium pricing right before a show, so it doesn't hurt to check there as well (or if it's super close to a show, sometimes resale tickets will actually be below face value, just make sure they're instant transfer).
Leopoldstadt does in person rush as well as lottery (through rush.telecharge.com), and I feel like your chances of scoring a rush ticket for the matinee shouldn't be terrible, so you can always give that a shot too if you feel like it.

Hadestown hasn't done rush since pre-pandemic, but they do have standing room! I did it this past Sunday. Got the ticket an hour and a half before the show, and it was an amazing view and show for $39. Would definitely recommend if you're able to do that. Ushers also mention that you're able to take an empty seat at intermission if you can find one. Snagged a third row center seat and couldn't have been happier.

Do you have an Audience Rewards account? They have 16 orchestra seats available for the 2/8 matinee for 500 points plus $60, and their seats are usually great.

Thank you - just realized I have 1100 points! I've never checked it before.
I was really holding out for front mezz, but seems you won't know location until after purchase. Is there any way to make a special request? It just says "select orchestra", and I'm afraid they're gonna put me too close.

You can’t make a special request, but their seats for most shows are usually mid-orchestra.

I realized I'm now being nit-picky about my seats given the $60 price tag, but I was told to avoid orchestra for this show. Can someone dispel that for me so I can move on and just buy the dang ticket?

I've seen the show from mezzanine and orchestra, and while I think the mezzanine is better for viewing the turntables, I had no problem with the orchestra. You really can't go wrong with Audience Rewards.

As I have mentioned before if you have a professional or emotional connection with a popular show you simply to see simply go to the box office a few hours before curtain and ask if there is any single seats available for that performance. The answer is usually "yes" and often a good one although you'll have to pay full price. But at least you won't be paying brokers fees and other add-ons and the money you pay will be going fully into the production itself. It also works for two but if the show is popular there's no chance you'll be sitting anywhere near each other.

Using audience rewards, I was able to get Orchestra R, Row M seat 1. Very excited - only 500 points and $60. Feels like a steal!
