Unless something else announces that they're closing, it looks like every Broadway theater except for 3 are booked(Belasco, Cort & Circle in the Square). Not too bad considering the economy is still in the toilet. What upcoming shows could fill those three theaters??

Did someone mention in another thread that the Belasco is being renovated?
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Frank Wildhorn (despite DRACULA, the musical flopping there not too well...) tries to bring 'Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure' to B'way in the Spring...or maybe 'Bonnie & Clyde.' Just saying...those are two of the new musicals with world premiere productions that have a chance to transfer!
It is. I heard the plan is to have it ready by April.
There was also a rumor that Our Town would transfer to Circle in the Square.
Isn't the Cort also finally getting a long-overdue makeover?
And what happened to First Wives' Club? Doesn't that hope to transfer sometime in October? If it does, where's it going?
See how speculation suddenly becomes "fact" around here.
Nothing has been announced about a "holiday run" of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. That was just one BWW poster wishing it into existence.
If there was tour out on the road they could bring in for a few weeks they might possibly do that, but there isn't one so I suspect this is all some rabid fan's pipe dream.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
LoveIsCompany, seemed to genuinely have the inside scoop on Beauty and the Beast. Sure, they could just be lying, but I didn't see any "wishing into existence". They were claiming to have actual inside information.
White Christmas has yet to announce it's return but that has been speculated too. Chances are they could go into the Marquis again should 9 to 5 close at the end of Summer.
I can't see Memphis lasting long at The Shubert. It had a dreadful reception (it's a dreadful show) in Seattle and it didn't sell as well as expected.
...what are you talking about, BobbyBubbly?
MEMPHIS was a huge box office hit at The 5th Avenue in Seattle. It had sold more tickets in advance sales by the time it started previews than SHREK did the entire run it played there.
I would hardly call the critical reception "dreadful" either. In fact, almost all of the reviews were quite positive, with most of them pointing out that the show itself was very solid but work was needed on the second act plot and the overall tone (both of which have been addressed.)
You sure like to go to inaccurate extremes.
And where do you get your info from? That thing was comped up the wazoo. Half empty the night I saw it.
I got my "info" directly from multiple people who worked on the show both in Seattle and in La Jolla, as well as someone from The 5th Avenue who glowingly praised how well it performed at the box office (they'd be happy to brag about said information.)
Just because it was on the empty side the night you saw it doesn't mean that equated to the entire run because, as hard as sit may be to believe, your personal experience doesn't always equate to the norm.
Wasn't just empty at my performance.
But think what you want. It's poor grosses at The Shubert and poor reviews will speak for themselves.
Where could Catch Me If You Can go? Maybe the Marquis if 9 to 5 ends up closing and White Christmas does its winter run then CMIYC could come in the spring.
I was going to say "When did I miss the return engagement of Beauty and the Beast" but frontrowcentre answered my question.
Shame for the poster who created that rumour.
The Marquis is a black hole in the Great White Way! Catch Me if you Can better definitely think twice before going there. First Wives can take it!
And I also heard the producers of Our Town are looking for a potential transfer to the Circle.
Either way, I would love a chance to see Beauty and the Beast for the holiday season! Disney would be desperate to make up for Mermaid.
Anneliese van der Pol as Belle after Vanities closes? :P!
The producers of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN looked at The St. James about a year ago when mapping out their developmental plans for the future.
Although that by no way means that's their top choice, I wouldn't be surprised if the show ended up there when it transfers in the spring.

The Belasco is being rennovated and is unavailable.
I guess this is bobbybubby's idea of "dreadful" ...

Seattle Times theater critic
"Bursting at the seams with big vocal talent, a soulful tone and attitude, and enough human wattage to power a city block, the musical "Memphis" has a lot going for it."
Thank you, TimesSquareRegular.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who notices his tendency to exaggerate to a ridiculous degree.
Seattle doesn't have a legit theatre critic left. The critic you're quoting is not the one you want to give you honest feedback about your out-of-town trying.
And somethingwicked, stop now. I've gotten several PM's about your habit of pumping people for information.
I don't type something unless I have proof behind it.
Think what you want but Memphis is doomed. I wish them all the luck in the world but there's no buzz on this show and they won't be able to fill the Shubert. Period.
Your "inside information" is false. Period.

^ Where's your proof that MEMPHIS was comped like crazy?
Where's his proof it sold like crazy?
There is none.
Who cares either way? it's coming in the fall, and I'm excited to see it.

With all due respect, I never made it clear as to whether or not I believed somethingwicked. I just find it hypocritical. You say that everything you type has proof behind it, but you spit out information with no proof behind it.
ETA: I'm SO SO SO excited for MEMPHIS and I hope that it gets a Cast Album. I will freaking but that CD like there's no tomorrow.

I know it's too early to see if Wonderland if Broadway-bound, but if it tries, I would imagine they'd be interested in the Marquis.
It's one set designer is the same person who designed the video images for Woman in White (NOT William Dudley though), and I would assume the Marquis is one of the few that would be ready for a quick go in since all the specifications are probably worked out for a huge projection-show, that is if Wonderland IS a huge projection show ... I'm sure we'll find out soon enough!
Bobby, I think you just proved the merit of your credibility by your attempt to throw a completely baseless jab at me that is both false and unrelated to the topic at hand. Think what you will.
The fact is that you tend to spout off your opinions and experiences and portray them as facts. You did it in the thread with why people weren't involved with THE FIRST WIVES CLUB and you're doing it again about MEMPHIS. The line between what you think and what's the legitimate truth seems to be completely non-existent to you, and every time someone comes up with some sort of solid "proof" to debunk your so called "inside information" (as I did in THE FIRST WIVES CLUB thread,) you ignore it.
It's fine to state your own belief or experience, but to try and make it seem like it's the norm or an actual reality is ridiculous.
While I may not be able to provide financial records to prove how well the show sold (though The 5th Avenue would be glad to disclose the numbers to anyone here curious enough to ask,) similarly, you can't provide proof it didn't either.
What can be provided to discredit you in this instance (and has) are the reviews, which were hardly as "dreadful" as you described. Criticize me all you want, but you're proving your own believability based on your actions.
