Chita is rarely out. And, Kay Ballard missed 1 performance in her 2ish year run of Carnival.
Given the intensity of Elphaba, Shoshana has missed so little. Idina seemed to miss a ton in comparison!

to bad she doesn't do it even half as good as Idina

Idina rarely missed when in "Wicked." Considering how long she was in the show, which is quite long given today's standards, her attendance record was very good.
It does strike me as funny that we're praising actors for DOING THEIR JOB. I mean, if I took off as many days as Donna Murphy, I'd be FIRED. I'm not saying that people don't occasionally get illnesses and don't deserve vacations, but it strikes me as humorous to praise people for doing what most of us do every day...which is earn a living by actually going to work.

When a job requires you to be in a certain physical condition, and you manage to do it for a long time without days off, it is impressive. Athletes and performers are the ones who come to mind.
Jorge Posada playing over 130 games at catcher for the past 5 seasons- impressive. My aforementioned example of Ethel Merman doing about 700 performances as Mama Rose- also impressive. Belting the score of Gypsy, like crouching for hours with a mask and chest protector on, is a difficult physical feat requiring both skill and strength. And even with training, not too many people can do it every day. Yes, it's their job, but most people in the same job don't have quite the same amount of endurance. That's why exceptional attendance records in difficult roles like these are worthy of praise.
That said, I'm still going to have to raise the bar higher than 3 performances missed in 3 months. Come on, folks.

I do not think Bruce Vilanch has missed a performance his whole year on the road and on Broadway in Hairspray except maybe when he had to be backstage at the Tony's? Anyone know for sure? He is an amazing & talented man!

Even though the show didn't run very long, I am pretty sure that Brandon Wardell and David Larsen never missed a performance of Good Vibrations.

kerry had to leave hairspray very quickly because of little shop so she was forced to take a vacation that she hadnt used yet her last week with the show, so i believe her final week with the show she just performed her final performance and thats it.
Kerry did miss that week, but that was a scheduled vacation after over a year with the show (Seattle, Broadway). If I remember correctly, she was also planning to have her last performance prior to the vacation but her actual contract out date was just after.
Lee Evans just did 100% in The Producers in London. Nathan was close, I hear...
Nathan was close?
You mean Nathan did the show for about a month and then ducked out early of his already very short contract? I know he hurt himself, and I don't blame him for protecting the future health of his back, but let's not laud him for doing the show for about 5 weeks! Hehe..
Amneris can help me out with this but I believe that Orfeh never missed a show during the entire run of Sat. Night Fever other than scheduled vacation time. I also vaguely remember the shows' easter bonnet skit being about that very fact, something about dropping a house on Orfeh, a la' Wizard of Oz, so that her understudy could get turn. Amneris? It was the last bonnet I attended. As for the person who considers three shows in three months a good attendance record, Al sighs, how times and standards have changed.
I think Marian Seldes has the record - she played the entire run of Deathtrap - and never missed a single performance, 1793 shows.

"Jorge Posada playing over 130 games at catcher for the past 5 seasons- impressive."
Um, how about Cal Ripken? 2,632 consecutive games played - now THAT is impressive!!
I agree with baritone. It's like that Chris Rock joke, "I take care of my kids!", YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO!! What do you want? A cookie?
Yes while I agree, and know first hand, being a performer isn't the easiest thing, especially in these new Belt till your throat bleeds shows *coughBKLYNWICKEDcough*. If you don't miss a show you're doing your job. The occasional vacation or sick day is unavoidable. But people like Cheno who take time off to do a week long benefit or shoot a film. Your first commitment should be what you're under contract to.

le Mizazz, You are absolutely right, AND there were times when David & Brandon were VERY VERY sick
Michelle Federer is also very good about attendance. I'm sure there a more, but in the past couple months I think Shoshana went on only once for Nessa.
As I said before, Jennifer Laura Thompson does not have a great record. I give her credit though, handling such a large role with a 1 year old son must be tough. I think Megan's gone on about 25 times maybe since she's be hired in August and I think Laura Bell Bundy did a couple after Kristin left and before Megan took over and Stacie has been on 2 or 3 times. JLT's probably missed around 30 in 10 months.
Actually, there were like 3 understudys for Nessa and they went on quite often.
