Why are some people having a hard time accepting that other people have a different opinion?
I think the photos are dreadful. I get that they were going for a comic book aesthetic, but it was poorly executed and doesn't work. It's some really dreadful photoshop with awkward actors, and just ridiculous looking costumes. (Although, granted, that has little to do with the photos themselves)
My opinion is not founded in me missing the point or not getting it, nor is it because I'm rooting for the show to fail.

The discussion is over? Really? I'm glad you're hear to tell us these things.
Some members of this board are ridiculous. Because I hate Women on the Verge and I hate these Spiderman "photos" (I use the term loosely-these are computer creations, not photographs) I am somehow an idiot and get attacked.
The images are OVERDONE. I dont know what comics you read, but they dont look like comics or stylized comics. They look like images with too many people giving feedback.
PS-How does Jen look gorgeous? Can you even see what she looks like in these "photos". A simple photo of her in her gowns would be stunning.
For the record, I want to see Spiderman AND I hate the photos. The two opinions are not mutually exclusive. Some of you people need to get over yourselves.
Not to mention the sadness I felt that Annie Leibovitz is attached to these monstrosities.

I would call them renderings, and they do generate a comic book feel, and are quite good in my opinion. Hope the discussion wasn't over.
An interesting note, according to the article about this on www.superherohype.com Reeve Carney is ONLY playing Peter Parker. Now I'm sorry but could it have been THAT hard to find someone to play both halves of the role?
Um... no?
Everything under the mask is stunt work & there are three stunt Spider-Men. Why risk your star?
^I believe the rumour is that the Spider-Man persona is doubled (sextupled?!) by six ensemble members.
There's only three of them. I know ONE of them is Craig Henningson.
Based off the Vogue pics, Emmanuel Brown is another. And wasn't Kevin Aubin (the guy who broke his wrists) doubling Spider-Man for that stunt.

I'd forgotten that tidbet...of course, it makes it all the more interesting that Carney requires an alternate. I realize that it's been said that only Peter Parker sings, but still...if he's not even on stage AS Spiderman....just how difficult can it be? Is this entirely sung-through?
Can't wait to see the curtain call.
I want this show to do well. I'm reserving my judgement of the costumes, etc., until I see how they work in the context. But I am judging these "photos", and I find them hideous. This isn't a comic-book feel to me, it's just overly processed. They should have either gone fully one way or the other - straddling the line between cartoon and realistic photography just ends up looking like a mess.
When you say you want this shoe to "do well", what do you mean? Financially? Because that's impossible. Critically? I also think at this point that's a bit impossible as well.
I always want my shoes to do well. I hate it when I buy a pair of shoes and they start to fall apart a week later.
Jordan you make me giggle (first it’s the biggest f**k up in Broadway history according to you), the show has not even opened yet so how do you come to that conclusion?
Now you say it's IMPOSSIBLE to make it's money back...how could you know that? im pretty sure you don't work for the producers (or are not old enough to).
The pics (again) should not have just gone 'all the way' with a comic book look or 'all the way' with a realistic theatre look as its MERGING the 2 art forms.

Not really, it’s a highly acrobatic stunt filled show, you don’t risk your star, just like they didn’t in the movie. Accidents could happen on this show so they have a few people doing stunt work as Spiderman. Did people really think the lead actor would be playing the role during the stunts?

I am not at all familiar with these characters. Will this musical be difficult for many theatergoers to follow?
p.s. I was confused at The Little Mermaid and at Shrek.

Wow! you've already seen the show and can definitively say it's terrible? Thanks so much for the insight.
Jesus people, see the damn show before you call it crap.

Because a $60M budget with a nut of above $1M IS impossible to recoup. That $1M is only the weekly costs, not even denting the budget.
This isn't a science, mere common sense.
I wonder what will be going into Foxwoods next Fall?
Julie Taymors new multimedia event, SCRAPPY DOO: PICK UP MY POOP, with an original score by Tony Orlando and Dawn, will begin previews there November 19th, 2011.

One of your finest, Jordan. Thank you.
I mean do well in terms of my own opinion of it, I guess. Really, that's all I care about when I'm seeing a show.

You (again) are saying this as if you had a part in the shoot, when I'm sure you didn't; your OPINION should not be stated like it's correct and everyone else is a moron for disagreeing. You can like the "photos" if you choose, that's fine, but don't act like I'm less intelligent than you for the sole reason of disliking them.
Lizard, Green Goblin, Carnage, Electro, Rhino, Swiss Miss, Swarm, Kraven, Furies
Lizard is Dr. Curt Conners - a professor of Peter's. He can be seen in the second Spider-Man movie played by Dylan Baker. He becomes Lizard when an experiment in growing limbs (Dr Conners has one arm) goes arwy.
Green Goblin is Norman Osborne/Harry Osborne. I'm going to guess that the show is using Norman. Norman is the father of Peter's best friend, Harry, and becomes the Green Goblin when he takes a serum to boost physical strength but drives him insane.
Carnage is Cletus Kasady a serial killer. He comes in contact with Eddie Brock (Venom) in prison. Some of the symbiote that made Brock Venom enters Kasady's bloodstream and he becomes Carnage.
Electro - Maxwell Dillon was a lineman with the electric company who was struck by lightning.
Rhino - Aleksei Sytsevich; a thug for hire working for an Eastern Bloc country. He volunteered to participate in an experiment that bonded a superstrong polymer to his skin and augment strength.
Swarm - Fritz von Meyer. One of Hitler's top scientists before becoming a beekeeper after the war. He was eaten by the bees when he tried to enslave the queen. Somehow they absorbed his consciousness and he can control them.
Kraven - Kraven is a big game hunter who wants to best Spider-Man to prove he's the best hunter in the world. He uses a serum to give him strength and prefers to use his hands over any weaponry.
The Furies and Swiss Miss are new for the musical.
