Eris, Kraven's costume has been made. A friend of mine worked on his chest plate. The costume looks like a Mardi gras character though. They have Taymorized him....
Darn, I would have much rather seen a hot guy running around barechested (and I doubt I'm alone in that lol)

Honestly some people on here are just plain stupid.,
How an earth do these pics look ugly, stupid etc?
The pictures are stunning and have been made to have the feel of a comic book look. I swear some people just slam stuff like this because they read to much Riedel.
No, it's ugly because they look like things cut and pasted together. The photos might have been stunning if they had been just photos instead of practically drawings. They look fake and overdone.

Count me in on the people not only shocked those photos were the work of Annie Liebowitz, but also that she put her name to those (and I am not even a fan).
Honestly what I am hearing about the show (and not even from Riedel), whatever respect I had for Taymor went out the window ages ago. Not saying I would not like the performers, songs, aesthetic, but I echo SNAFU's statements.

For those of you attacking the people who have dissenting opinions let me say this:
I'm usually one of the first people to defend a show or try to find something good in it. I want shows to succeeded and I always try to find something redeeming in anything I see be it a performance, the set, or anything.
But, I cannot bring myself to jump on board with this fiasco. Budgets and Vogue pictures aside - let's look at the characters. What writer in their right mind would have that many principal characters? There is no way you can flesh out any of them in a two hour period. We're up to 9 villians or villian groups. NINE! Spidey's going to need some amazing friends to handle all of that. Are they planning on showing everyone's backstory and how they came to be costumed? If they do that's 10 evolutions that have to be made within the first 10-20 minutes of the show. Or are these alter-egos already in existance when the show starts?
It's like they're trying to push a bunch of clowns into one VW bug. Eventually it's all going to come spilling out.

Posted: 11/15/10 at 3:58pmFor our purposes these are indeed terrible photos. For a photo spread in Vogue magazine, they look like many other Vogue spreads. I guess we are going to have to wait for this show to open (assuming it really does) to know what it will really look like.

"We're up to 9 villians or villian groups. NINE!"
What nine exactly? Last I heard it was just the sinister six. Which is still a lot, but when did this expand to nine?

I think the pix look photoshopped and overly edited. I'm not impressed but agree that Jenn looks stunning. They remind me of colorforms (who remembers those?).

They look like many other Vogue spreads.
Except they don't, really. Most of the time Vogue has beautiful, not cartoon-y photos. These are terrible. Not even necessarily because of the content of the photos, but because of their quality. They just look fake to the point of it being completely and utterly distracting.

I just can't get over how incredibly tacky it all looks.
I honestly expected something unique from Taymor, but this is just flat out ugly.
And 9 bad guys?!? Is there even going to be a story or just a series of aerial ballets/fights?
But who knows? It may end up being amazing, like a Cirque du Soleil show. With uglier costumes.

According to that article strummergirl posted, it sounds like many of the villains will be on video projections. Not sure if the Furies are villains or a Greek Chorus of eight legged women.

so swiss miss is now a swiss army knife themed drag queen? The photo credits Sean Samuelsas being underneath that mess of a costume.
The spiderman costume Is decent, although I prefer Jim Acheson's movie design better. The Carnage suit is a bit cartoonish but at least follows the comics look, The Green goblin however.... looks like an acid trip. I am not digging that he has wings instead of a glider either.

Posted: 11/15/10 at 6:43pmSwiss Miss is such a hoot. I am so fascinated to see how this show is received, if it ever opens.

lol oh come on, really?
What was Spiderman?, it was a comic book, drawings in a comic book, so to link the show to the comic book background what have they done? made them look like drawings......in a comic book.
Are people missing the point on purpose?
These have been made to look like over the top, drawings, overly coloured etc because that IS Spiderman’s origins.
It's far better than just doing simple pics of the cast in costume (ie the promo pics for Women on the Verge) because it's staying true to what Spiderman is.

Posted: 11/15/10 at 7:05pmThese didn't look like comic books. They looked overly photoshopped.

Posted: 11/15/10 at 7:08pmIt has merged comic book with theatrics, it's really not that hard to figure it out. Thank the lord some people on here dont work in advertising lol

Yikes, they over photoshopped the film advertising to give it more a comic book drawn feel, must be a stinker
Annie Leibovitz Photographs Spider-Man#49
Posted: 11/15/10 at 7:15pmI am in no way a fan of Spider Man, but aren't the photos supposed to look like comic book drawings? THEY DO. I thought they looked very comic bookish. End of discussion.
