I will not be there tonight, however I was there this morning. I was sort of cranky after dealing with some unruly people (mainly this one German guy). If you didn't catch me, I was the kid selling stuff in a green shirt and brown cap.

Some woman asked this last night and got the obvious answer.

But does anyone know if this will ever be published? (Kushner's version.)

It had some great lines I'd like to read again.

Plus, Streep's delivery of some of the lines is so perfect that it is in my mind when I read other versions of the show. Updated On: 8/17/06 at 08:29 PM

What Meryl Streep does with the role is astonishing. I'm exhausted...as if I'M the one who just lived through the 30 Years' War.

Finally finally *finally* got the chance to see this last night. Absolute love. I was the plus one- my friend did the actual waiting in line overnight to get the two tix- and when I got home last night my roommate asked how it was, and I told her that I would go out right now and stand in line to go see it again tomorrow night. I thought it was just absolute brilliance.

(pet peeve rant) except for the asshats who left during the last number. And during the curtain call. Like the people sitting in front of us. but especially the party in the second row, and then the party in the *first* row, in the middle section- if you were that distracting to little ol' me sitting in row H, I can't imagine what it's like for those actually on stage. Hope that 1.5 minutes you saved, after being entertained for over three hours by those on stage, was worth it. (/pet peeve rant)

I enjoyed everything- the set, the lighting, the music, the cast, everything, but I have to ditto what everyone has said, what Meryl does on stage is just absolute- wow. I don't think I have the words to express how much I enjoyed her performance. Will hopefully be catching it again!

It really is an honor to watch her work onstage. She is such a perfectionist--and on film, all you see if the end result of her perfectionism. Onstage you see her work, trying out things recovering from little flubs, even having Mother Courage wait till a loud overhead plane passes by--in character!--wsimply by having her eye follow the plane with a the character's attitude.

Her energy was unflagging, her appreciation of the other actors intense and her rendition of Mother Courage's "indomitable" spirit was truly unique.

I was disappointed by her decision NOT to do Helene Weigels' famous "Silent Scream" at the end of the first act, but I was not at all disappointed by her performance at the end of the second.

To have seen Patti's Rose and Meryl's Courage in one week is Diva Overload. Both strong women, pulled between love for their children and their own selfish interests. Wow.

I was also there last night. My friend and I got to the line at 7 and the last people to get tickets got there at 8:20 for those keeping track.

The moment that PalJoey mentioned when the plane passed overhead was brilliant. It worked so well with the line right before it, which had to do with people coming to get Mother Courage. As everyone's been saying, it was a phenomenal experience and I feel so fortunate to have been able to witness this production.

I think I would like to see this show in a theater with real seats as I think the uncomfortable seats took away from my enjoying the show as I just could't sit still for 10 minutes.

"I think I would like to see this show in a theater with real seats as I think the uncomfortable seats took away from my enjoying the show as I just could't sit still for 10 minutes."

SEAT CUSHION!

I mean come on, the tickets are free...10 bucks for a seat cushion enhances the experience.

HAHA.

We got there the night before and someone (aghem) shouted out brainpolice. And no one responded.

So now everyone knows there is a brainpolice who works at SITP and posts on BWW and wears a brown hat.

I'll be there on Sunday all day. I'd prefer if people didn't ask me about stagedoor stuff as first off, I'm not an advocate of Stagedooring, and secondly, I don't want Public Theater people to get angry. IDK if I'll be wearing my hat all the time, however I'm very loud when I sell merchandise...and sometimes play the melodica.

"SEAT CUSHION!

Actually, the tickets for me were $150 each. And also, the seat cushions don't extend the amount of leg room we get.

How hard do you think it's gonna be to get tix for the 21st? I plan to camp out of course, but how early do you reckon I should get there?10ish or earlier?

No line opening night. All tickets are invite only. So no luck on the 21st.

There will, in fact, be a limited ticket distribution on Monday 8/21.

I am waiting for Father Courage

Seriously, no desire to see it or wait hours in a line for them. We take a pass. To those that want to see it, enjoy

I'm gonna try to get tickets to Friday night's show (the 25th). When do I need to get in line to make sure I get seats? 10pm? earlier? And any advice as to whether to wait in line in the park or at the Public Theater? thanks!

I personally prefer the Public. I think even if you get there around 5-6 in the morning you should be fine. They have quite a few tickets. I don't really know how they distribute it though because on the 8th we were bout 25th in line and got second row tix that were slightly off center and people who were in front of us got seats that were way behind us to the side. I guess ot also depends on how many people you have with you.

I went to see it again on the 21st and I like it much much better. They changed a few things and the whole show felt more dynamic. Plus I really like the fact that now they have her alone on stage in the final as opposed to having the whole cast up there with her. I luved her little laugh at the end!:)

"Meryl Streep and all are absolutley perfect and, with the exception of "The Song of Solomon" sung by Kevin Kline, there was really no weak moment."

Wow.
He did GREAT the night I saw it - 8/25.
I was very impressed.
It was a real highlight.

I wasn't expecting too much because it didn't appear that he was really connected to the hound-dog sexuality his character is ruled by, (what was going on?) but once his song started, I felt he really connected, (acting, singing, communicating) and all systems were GO.
Great.
