The font of the text reminds me of a late 70s romance novel.

I was thinking ‘70s - ‘80s videocassette cover, but that works too.

it’s a riff on the iconic Allman Brothers Band logo. Cameron Crowe followed the band when he was a teen a la the plot of the show.

...is it? If this is the logo you're referencing, they look nothing alike to me.
(Regardless, I kinda like the Broadway artwork)

A bit surprised the poster doesn’t list the theater The rumored house is not currently occupied, and I’m sure all the requisite agreements have been signed by now

I do not understand this strategy at all. Cast is posting about it on social and talking about it in interviews, but no official announcement is very very weird.
Unless plans changed and they’re no longer going to the Broadhurst but the actual theatre’s tenant still hasn’t announced closing?

So here is a weird thing. The rumors seems pretty strong that it's going into the Broadhurst, however I just googled "almost famous musical tickets" for the heck of it and the first thing that comes up is a bizarre listing on NYTIX. The REST of the site seems a legit ticket middle man that lists all the ways you can get tickets for different shows but the Almost Famous page is weird.
The dates were all very random and nonsensical, especially since we now have a 2022 confirmation but the rest of the page looks very well put together with photos from the regional run and well formatted descriptions.... but it lists the show as playing at the John Golden Theatre.
Perhaps the dates and theatre were just place holders the site put into place until they have confirmation? I can't see this playing the Golden... right? Seems way to small for this.
NYTIX is a bogus site. Don't believe anything on it if there hasn't been an official press announcement :)

It's a marketing strategy, I'm almost certain. They want to generate excitement by letting the cast and crew share with their social media following, in hopes that there will be a nice boom of sales when tickets go on sale.

Broadhurst? The Broadway? What else is available this Fall?
Seems odd to not announce a theater unless they'er going into something that is currently occupied? Maybe they're waiting for Company to close in the fall? I like the artwork, but think the colors make it hard to read from afar, so might need to be rethought.
This and Neil Diamond have both been rumored for the Broadhurst. Neil Diamond has also been rumored for the Broadway.
Could this be next in the Schoenfeld, and perhaps COME FROM AWAY is preparing to announce?
ALMOST FAMOUS will need to go on sale this summer (or ideally sooner) if it's planning to open in Q4 of 2022. Same with the other shows in the pipeline. If they were waiting on COMPANY to post closing, that's unlikely to happen until late summer at the absolute earliest...and assuming Patti will be gone sometime this summer or fall, Joanne IS a role that could attract star actresses who sell more tix than Patti.
I just threw out Company - but Come from Away or Dear Evan Hansen could be contenders as well.
I could see either of those two shows moving to New World Stages too.
Come From Away still appears to be breaking even or better. Don't see it closing up by September.

Assuming it costs about $550K per week to run, it is not making much profit and also lost money for at least 12 weeks in 2022 so far. These are frugal producers (remember, they closed MEMPHIS at exactly the time of its recoupment), it's had a nice long run, made money, got filmed, and it may be time to "quit while they're ahead" at the end of the summer depending on what its advance looks like.
Above all, they may have Bob Wankel at their door saying "it's time."
(And I agree that CFA and DEH might transfer wonderfully to an off-Bway space. It's kinda funny to me how closely those two shows from the 16-17 season are tied to one another.)

I got an ad here saying “COMING TO BROADWAY SEPTEMBER 13” but have seen no formal announcement… maybe an announcement is coming in the morning and BWW was a bit too quick.

I got the same pop-ups on a few theater sites. The ad says to enter your email address and you will be informed of more details as they are forthcoming. I saw the same message that previews begin September 13, but no info a date for opening night or which theater it'll play. If they intend to play the Barrymore, I don't think they can make a formal announcement until Paradise Square announces its closing.
I'm hearing the Longacre after Macbeth.
IDK if that's the best theatre for this show, but it certainly makes the most sense considering it doesn't have a show for the fall. If a better theatre opens up, they can consider moving.
