Anything New on Almost Famous?

Being that it has the same producer as MJ and considering the state of the world, I would assume summer/fall 2022 at the earliest. Jeremy Herrin is also directing Amy Adams' GLASS MENAGERIE in London, which would probably start rehearsals in April ahead of its May opening.

Casey Likes recently self-produced a production Next to Normal starring himself and his mom out here in Phoenix, and the press materials (obviously written by him) mentioned him returning to Almost Famous shortly. Then again, that may be wishful thinking...the out of town reviews were pretty mixed, and I just don't see this thing being a financial success if it moves to Broadway. I loved the movie when it first came out many many years ago, but...who is this show for?

Several cast members have posted pics and clips to their IG from a workshop of the show taking place this week - so, they’re back at it.

Broadhurst Theatre, late summer / early fall.

Is this a "work on the show" reading, or a "raise money" reading?
Broadhurst, imho, is one of the best houses on Broadway because it works equally well for plays and musicals.

Damn. I was hoping with the pause that Tom Kitt was no longer attached.
Why do they keep allowing him to work???? Some people only have one great musical in them and he CERTAINLY has proven this adage again and again and again!!

People believe he still has it in him as a composer (and not just an arranger / orchestrator).
I know I believe in Kitt. The score of Flying Over Sunset was lovely, his best since Next to Normal. I hope Almost Famous is good in its own way.

According to Gerard Canonico’s Instagram, it’s officially heading to Broadway in the fall, with official announcement/dates/theatre to come soon:

There were lots of posts from the cast over the past few weeks - they were all here for another workshop. Looks like everyone from San Diego is back except Colin Donnell. If rumors are true, it’ll be at the Broadhurst.

I've seen similar posts from others. Weird that they would let the cast share this news before an official announcement/exclusive by the NYT...

Who is replacing Storm Lever (who is on tour with SIX at the moment)? Or will she ditch the tour and come back to Broadway?

Glad they will replace Colin, he was too old and he is not a strong singer. I wanted the entire male cast replaced but it's a start. Looking forward to this one as long as they tightened it up since Cali.

The font of the text reminds me of a late 70s romance novel.
