Before I clicked on this I thought "I bet Beyoncé is going to be Nala". It is good to see that the casting is not a disaster.
QUEEN BEY. DONALD. JEJ. Yes!!! And my heart is bursting for Shahadi!
Was hopeing for a Female Rafiki like on stage, but I guess that would not have worked because I dont think female Mandrils have that blue nose thing

So Beyoncé gets to sing Shadowland right?
Of course the villain is British. Bit of a cliché, but Chiwetel is great so I shouldn't complain.
A special yay for Alfred Woodard.
Oh good. Glad we’ll have a one-note, dead behind the eyes performance of Nala.
Good thing it’s CGI and not humans in lion costumes, Jordan.
But they’re still filming them and using CGI to turn their faces into the animals, if I’m not mistaken.
Well hopefully they animate some life into her peorfmance. If they had cast anyone else, Shadowland probably wouldn’t have been included, but I feel like they have to now.

It's not motion capture, either.
Funny how some people are critics without even knowing all the details.
Really like the cast, I'm super partial to the casting of Keegan Michael the most!
So James Earl Jones now has to go and try to replicate a performance he gave in a movie 24 years ago and do his best not to sound like he's 86. That's going to be a challenge.
I will bet there is a new song for Nala by Elton and Beyonce. She really wants an Oscar for something, anything. I think Rafiki should be a woman also. Linda Hunt won an oscar playing a hu-Man.

Don't get the whole Beyonce hype, but well, at least she's talented. Hope they include Shadowland.

He sounds the same as he did back then. I really don't think he'll have much problem voicing Mufasa again.
I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote Beyoncé a new song

Alfred?
i wouldn’t be surprised if they dumped all the songs from the stage version and wrote several new ones like what happened with the recent Beauty and the Beast. none of the new songs from The Lion King are exactly gems, it would make a lot of sense to me.

The less cues they take from Beauty and the Beast, the better IMO. But since it was such a big hit, I wouldn't be surprised if they repeated some of those choices.

They can dump whatever they want but please include Shadowland and He Lives in You.
That is a good cast, but I'll say it again- the cast was ALREADY perfect, as was the original work. I don't know why they picked this movie to do- even Jungle Book made more sense because it was an older film and at least contained a human character. You can't really call this "live-action," as there still will be no humans in it. You can call it the "fancier CGI animation" remake.
I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't get the Beyonce mania.
