That answer would be in the many other Bridges threads, idiot. This thread is about Bridges last beautiful week. Only comment in threads with your name on it next time, your hatred for shows past 1907 isn't wanted here.
avyrocks, you're right. After this post, I'm taking your advice
Did AfterEight just use a Sondheim pun? Well played. Avyrocks and Sutton, I will never block AfterEight. I live for all of his posts. Besides, if you have seen the 50th anniversary of "Hello, Dolly!" post, he had many nice things to say about that. And he DIDN'T hate Act One. And he LIKED Irma La Douce, so... My only fear is that HE'LL block ME. I like to think of us as the besties of BroadwayWorld. Good cop, bad cop... Sally and Phylis... Oh wait, he'll hate that reference... Irene and Minnie. We balance each other out. "Somewhere there's a darn nice fella, deep down inside." I think he likes that show... Lots of tunes you can hum (though I can hum literally any tune from any show, so...)
"Sticks and stones, sister. Here, have a Valium." - Patti LuPone, a Memoir
I don't mean to reinforce his behaviour but After Eight can be hilarious. The comments about Fun Home that children should be singing about jam and bread are my favourite! If you look back you will find that After Eight didn't even really hate Bridges (although he was never a big fan of the score). I'm sure he likes to chew the scenery a bit when posting his opinions here.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Why would I? You don't appear to be mean-spirited."
I think I've made it, guys. Just a question that's been bothering me, AfterEight: what is the meaning of your username? I'm sure you've already shared, but for the life of meI can't figure it out.
"Sticks and stones, sister. Here, have a Valium." - Patti LuPone, a Memoir
I always think of the scene in "Slings and Arrows" where Geoffrey shows Oliver's skull to Anna.
"Every molar has a filling. You see that? It's because of those horrible things he ate all the time, those mints, those After Eight mints. He ate boxes of those things."
It's so apt. Reading After Eight's posts gives you brain cavities.
