That two pieces of true information are related. Plus, the OP even said it was "Too bad," as though they were even upset about their own invented narrative.

Hmm. I think your reaching just to find fault with the thread. The OP didn’t.t claim to really know anything other than that her show is cancelled . It is a very reasonable assumption that she was only doing Dolly thru July so that she can resume working on her tv show. Last year they filmed in Japan I believe.

I interpreted the "Too bad" as being about Mozart being cancelled...

I thought it was for both, since she also said she was looking forward to a new Dolly?
I don't typically go out of my way to find faults with threads. I already have a full-time job. ![]()

I also think they were just referring to Mozart.

Well as i said in another post, I thought Bernadette was the best Dolly of the last 3.
My two cents.
Who is the pop singer that was rumored to replace her????

Hasn't the rumor also been Dolly Parton?

Posted: 4/10/18 at 9:08amFor what it's worth, Bernadette is doing this past season's (17-18) winter/spring concerts she cancelled for Dolly in the upcoming season (18-19) in at least few places I checked. So even if she does extend, it won't be for a significantly long period of time.

Doubtful they will extend. The houses aren't full and it's constantly up on TDF and TKTS. I would venture to guess that they would (if the costs for rehearsal and costumes are minimal) do more stunt casting for shorter periods of time like they are doing over at Kinky Boots. I walked up for a Wed matinee at 11 and got a rush ticket. The balcony was closed and the orchestra sides were empty.

Unless things are about to change they seem to be doing fine selling tickets with Bernadette.

That was just because of spring break.

Yeah --- because if there's ONE thing that draws the high school and college kids in, it's a Bernadette Peters musical!!

I think it was posted here that Dolly had been approached, but apparently her singing voice is damaged or something. If you look at recent concert videos she lip syncs most of the show. It's all the same vocal tracks.

I’m sad that Mozart was canceled; I liked the show a lot & thought Bernadette was doing great work in it. She was really funny in parts, especially her scenes with Malcolm McDowell.
My friend found tickets on Broadwaybox for Dolly for July 12th (rear orchestra) & we decided to go for it - I know nothing is guaranteed, but what do you think are our odds of seeing Bernadette in the role that night? We saw Bette & are anxious to see Bernadette’s take.
Thanks!

Bernadette has not missed a musical performance since Gypsy. She must have one of the best attendance records right now in the business - if she happened to miss on your date you'd have to be one of the unluckiest people on earth.

Interestingly enough, I saw the show for the first time last night and you could tell Bernadette was fighting a bad cold. I felt badly for her as anyone else would have called out but thankful that she pushed through for us. Save for some minor hiccups she sounded great and I thought her Dolly was charming and full of energy. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if she called out for the matinee today.

It seems like Bernadette has been fighting a cold since about September 2011, lol.

Yep. She always seems to have something going on. I think that’s just the way she is.

Wow. The hands on the hips attitude with that comment. Actually Dolly like many other shows did benefit immensely from the easter break. Today the rear mezz and balcony are very thin.

I think the broader point is that Dolly with Bernadette has been doing decent ticket sales since day 1. It seems a bit odd to simply suggest it's doing ok due to 'spring break'? And the show tends to be slower Tuesday-Thursday then pick up Friday-Sunday, so the only real way to tell how it is doing is looking at the grosses rather than picking any individual performance. Unless things are about to get challenging (I haven't really looked), it really has been doing consistently fine. For almost 3 months.
