20th Anniversary Broadway Cast (with Christine Andreas)
I'm partial to the Original London Cast, because it's the one I saw, and fell in love with. Although, I saw the film and the one with Christine Andreas, as well; but, I despise the film, and found the Andreas version rather unremarkable. Although, it was better than the film; but I've seen high school productions that I found better than the film, so that's not saying much. So, London, OBC, Christine, Soundtrack. The Alec Mcgowan one stinks, imo. He's fine; but Eliza is horrid.

While the OBC or OLC with Rex and Julie would probably be considered "best," I'm very partial to the 2001 London Revival with Jonathan Pryce.

There's another studio recording with Jeremy Irons (who is quite good), Kiri Te Kanawa (who is horrid) and Jerry Hadley (who sings well but uses a very unconvincing British accent as Freddy).
OLC. It captures the original leads in the best sound quality.

I don't think anyone's sung "On the Street Where you Live" as well as John Michael King on the OBCR.
Dont mess with what is not broken, the original!
OLCR. It just is.
Original London Cast all the way. Though I really liked Mark Umbers' Freddy on the 2001 London Revival.

For me, absolutely the original broadway cast recording - just don't know how you can top Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison!
I've the Original London Cast recording. I just love Julie Andrews' voice. I'll probably get the Broadway version as well when I have more money, but for now that'll do me!
No one has even come close to bettering Julie Andrews in MY FAIR LADY. As great as Rex is (was), there have been very good Higgins, over the years; but the Elizas all seem flat, to me.
I was debating buying the 90s London revival cast - it's easier to get hold of over here than the Andrew's recordings, but I can't hack Martine McCutcheon. I almost got the film version, but I could hear Andrews singing it in my head, and how gorgeous she should sound, and I wanted to see if the recording lived up to the expectation (it did).

What would you guys say are the differences between the OBC and the OLC? Sound quality?
The major difference is that the OBC is mono and the OLC is stereo.
I think the orchestrations on the OBC are better (SHOW ME, for example). Also, Julie is in better voice on the OBC, her voice not having been subjected to all the screaming and such for 2 years on Broadway; but her sound is far superior on the OLC recording (her LOVERLY on the OLC is beyond sublime). Julie's "sound" and the stereo, are why I prefer it to the OBC. I guess you should have both!
i have the Original London Cast and i love it :) i agree, don't mess with what ain't broken. i never bothered with the others.
You do know that the Original London recording is not the original, don't you? That would be the Original Broadway Cast Recording.
OBC and 2001 London Cast.
How does the Original London Recording compare to the Original Broadway Recording (which I own, as well as the Movie Soundtrack)? From the cover, I can see that the three leads are the same, so how do they compare?
