You should create a rap explaining that they need to pack bags and prepare to see the show that's the hardest to get tickets to. Perform the rap and let the final lyric be the reveal that they're going to see HAMILTON.
Pay someone to pretend to rob your house and tie everyone up and gag them while they see the person steal all the gifts you'd gotten them. Then after that, you can play sound effects of a big fight outside the house, then you come in dressed like Santa, with all the gifts and the tickets and be the big hero for saving the day and their lives.
A good alternative to the biography idea would be to give them the book "Math to Build On: A Book for Those Who Build" by Johnny and Margaret Hamilton, and only give them the tickets after they've finished the book.

Let us know what you decide please
what I did for my niece and sister was buy one of those recording cards. When they opened the card, it was me attempting to do a rap mashup from the show She couldn't stop laughing/crying
i also got them tickets to Lazarus, The Color Purple and Fiddler on the Roof

Thanks all! Great suggestions! (Some funny, others we thought about using, but ..)
We ended up going with them opening three envelopes separately and simultaneously that each had a $10 bill. The looked puzzled, then when we asked them to think about it for a second - my daughter slowly started to smile with a look of "you didn't ..." We then told them the date and they started screaming. (Yes, we're proud to have raised three theatre nerds!)
it worked for our kids. I might even try to post the video online later of their reaction.
If if anybody tries a different method - please share how it works!
Note - a side effect is they've been singing various Hamilton songs since then ... ??

That does sound like the second best idea if you couldn't go with Jordan's.
That's so awesome. My dad just bought us 2nd row for tomorrow night. They were on TM resale for $1250 total. That's practically a steal these days. I was scoping out Twitter to see if anyone was sick or on vacation but it looks safe. 7th time!!! Your kids will love it!
I love hearing your experience with surprising the kids with the tickets P-E and would love to see the video. So glad the kids are excited to see the show!

Santa bought me four $10,000 tickets to make sure I see Lin in at least one performance. It will be my 33rd time seeing it by the end! Isn't Santa the best!

If Santa were the best, he'd be more concerned that you see Leslie than Lin. Lol
"
My tickets wrapped inside a shirt.
