Damn, I wish I had $15 million on me right now. With all the talk of Carrie (almost 20 years later) a new production would not only recoup my investment, but might also recoup the orginal production too!!!!!
I highly doubt that the Capeman, Brooklyn, Dance of the Vampires, Good Vibrations, Lennon, Dracula, the Civil War or In My Life will even be remembered in 20 years, let alone talked about

Before Carrie, the King (or Queen) postwar flop was Kelly.
I'd invest, phan!

A musical by Jule Styne that truly was a one night stand.I was there for it's one preview performance. There was one nice song called "Long Way From Home".I doubt anyone will revive it.
Would Bombay Dreams qualify as a big flop? It didn't have a long run, and cost a lot to create. I'd also say that Chitty will go down as a major flop.

"how in the world would you put up that book, tho?"
huh?
The book of the show or the novel?
"Bombay Dreams" is certainly a flop.
Here's a few that I didn't notice anywhere on this thread:
Legs Diamond

The Red Shoes

Paul Simon's The Capeman

My point is that the score is terrific, but the story is too bizarre. I cant imagine it ever working.

Thanks The8re plan for the info....I wish more could be listed as re-couping!
I'm always hearing about shows being considered flops, and some have run for almost a year. How sad that a show can't re-coup an investment in that kind of timeframe!
"Or Styne's Prettybelle"
I thought you were suggesting a revamp of this BSoBW2...realize my mistake now...
Still think the score is fun
It's legendary and a great show, but "Follies" in 1971, lost over $500,000.00 I think.

yes...... Sunset Blvd was indeed a flop......that was one damn expensive show to run.
on the flip side thou...... the new revival of Sweeney, with a cast of 10, no musicans and a bare-bones set should recoup by next week!

God, "Raggedy Ann."
I forgot all about that one. I kinda HAD to see it, because I had two friends in the cast.
It was terrible.
EDIT: With a book by William ("The Miracle Worker") Gibson and songs by Joe ("Sesame Street") Raposo... a very puzzling combination, to be sure.
