I know it's the early preview hype and everything but I'm surprised Redwood came out to have the second highest average ticket.
Hell's Kitchen is still making over 1 mil but seems to be on the downward trend, I wonder how much it'll pick back up for summer and how long it'll sustain itself.
3rd consecutive week where Moulin Rouge has fallen below 1 million.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Being down $150,000 during Broadway Week isn't what I would call "losing steam". You've just joined (rejoined?) BWW and have been taking multiple shots at SUNSET (while praising GYPSY). Gee--I wonder who you are interning for??
It’s clear that AWW had the writing on the wall and was smart to announce before this came out. Shame for them but they lasted longer than most of us thought.
Given that it’s also Broadway Week, I’m happy to see Oh, Mary remains mostly sold out. A play of this scope could run for eons on the budget they probably have and then go back off Broadway. I’m wondering how Betty will do for the long run

The other thing about Sunset is one performance is basically a write-off (ie the one that Nicole does not appear), which will skew the numbers downwards. This experiment doesn’t appear to be working well, with a closed balcony and many unsold seats or heavily discounted seats, with rather mediocre word of mouth about the performance. In London it worked because the alternate performer had a higher profile and because the show was basically sold out so it acted as an overflow performance that isn’t relevant here on Broadway with a much larger theatre and in practical terms an open ended run.
Additionally, Sunset has been running longer. It has been seen by twice as many people as Gypsy and grossed almost twice as much. Therefore, it is more likely anyway that Sunset might have slightly less demand than Gypsy by this stage. Let’s see how Gypsy is doing in the future?
Of course, if you read Jesse Green in the nytimes you can see his smear campaign that Sunset is put alongside Tammy Faye and Cinderella as if they are similar London bombs.
There does appear to be an insidious thing happening where people seem to be enjoying putting down Sunset and Nicole while glorifying Audra and Gypsy. A real change in attitude. I have my speculations of why this is happening.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Wow, Chicago's numbers are impressive. Erika Jayne seems to be attracting audiences to the Ambassador.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

People have always, I mean, always enjoyed putting down Sunset Boulevard since the day it was born, regardless of who's in it or what it looks like. I was absolutely certain and widely enthusiastic about a Nicole win, but then i saw Gypsy. While I would never put down Nicole or SB, Gypsy is now my No. 1 recommendation to anyone who asks, while SB competes with MHE for second place, depending on who's doing the asking. As for who wins the Tony, I think Nicole's performance is electrifying, but Audra's is monumental. Nothing insidious -- someone simply came up from behind and took the lead. Can she stay there throughout the next four months? We shall see.

and she's a terrible Roxie. Wouldn't see the show for free with her in it.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

So strange the way people here cheer for their favorite production and trash a supposed rival. Just like sports fans, I guess. Seems like we should be thrilled that Broadway has so many thriving productions and talented performers. Celebrate the entire industry.
