- I’m still perplexed about the sudden shuttering of LBRR. It’s been holding the same grosses for the whole run, so other than Rudin wanting to pinch his pennies and/or give Laurie a little more rest time before SALESMAN, the rationale is a head scratcher.
- ALL OUT is already up on TDF for Christmas week.I think it’s going to have good and bad weeks (comparatively) based on who is in the show. The lineup is not the murderer’s row of famous faces that ALL IN had and the material is decidedly weaker.
- STRANGER THINGS getting their sales boom - maybe the release of the series and Netflix playing the long game might actually start making things better (though clearing $1.5M/week to break even is a monstrous task).
- I know the gross is fine and the break is even, but TWO STRANGERS needs to get their buns out there and start working the TV circuit. People are going to want to see a Christmas-adjacent musical and now is their time to capitalize on that.
- MINCEMEAT and OH MARY continue to be the most consistently grossing shows and are definitely making the most out of the “We’ve Extended Again!” approach to their marketing and both shows are looking comfortable through their July 2026 extensions. Annoying it might be to some, it does create demand and we as consumers fall for it every time. I do wonder how long the OBC will remain, since you can see on Insta some of them are really loving NYC, while others are working on self-tapes for new projects.
- CHESS did not see a large dip with Lea’s absence, which may bode well in the future, but we shall see.
- Finally, I think we are avoiding the usual winter bloodbath because there isn’t much to look forward to on the horizon. Yes, we have new plays and some new musicals, but the forecast for Spring is bleak and I’m sure the theatre owners would rather have a show that’s underperforming as opposed to an empty house.

Chess massively cut ticket prices for Sunday with Lea out eg seats usually $541 were $176 and being a Sunday managed to sell a lot of them at those prices, thats why capacity wasn't down but box office was down further again from last week when Nik was out for one performance.
Lea's out again tonight for her second pre scheduled day off for the start of Hanukkah, and even with cutting prices neariy half are not sold with a few hours until curtain so they will have more of drop for tonight than Sunday. Given its the week leading in to Christmas and Lea and everyone is in for the rest of the week they might make some of that up the rest of the week.
