Nice to see Cinderella creep back up a little bit.
Ooof Spider-Man! Hopefully they pick up business soon cause they are not looking good at all!
Phantom has had some great numbers these past few weeks!
Wow Kinky Boots is doing great business!!! Pippin and I'll Eat You Last broke box office records at their respective theaters!
'Ooof Spider-Man! Hopefully they pick up business soon cause they are not looking good at all!'
Did I read somewhere perhaps on here that Spiderman costs $1.2m a week to run? So therefore losing $200k a week?
I do not think ANNIE will recover from the late season competition. I don't see how it will last past September. This is one of those moments where I wish they would post notice soon though, so a great new show can have the Palace in the fall!
No one ever wants the Palace.
for certain shows, the Palace is ideal. And if they are trying to get a house in the fall, a lot of musicals would love it.
It's NEVER ideal. The second balcony is impossible and the theatre has been covered in scaffolding for two years. With other musical houses in play for the fall, the Palace is surely at the back of the list for any one of them.

I agree with that. It's just too huge to sell out consistently.....
and half the seats are just terrible.
Annie has done pretty well there considering...but unless they get some new draw after Jane leaves, it may not make it until the end of the year...which I imagine would have been their hope.
Annie is seems to be headed down the same path as Evita... It had a few months of VERY strong sales, and now it's tapering. If Jane Lynch REALLY helps ticket sales (I don't think she will help that much), I could see them trying to find a name to keep it going until next year. If not, I see this closing up shop after the summer.
I can't think of any incoming shows that could take the Palace. With so many other (more desirable) open theatres, the Palace may be sitting empty for a while.
I think Jane will bring in some good numbers. After she leaves, they'll need another big name to step in. Once September hits the numbers will fall again. But I believe that once the holidays start rolling in, the numbers can pick up again.
I'm not a big fan of Annie. I love the music, but don't like the story. I actually liked this revival though. Especially the set and the "darker" approach.
I love the show too. I think this is a fabulous production. Does it top the original, no but it was time that the show saw a new vision. It's been Charnin's for the past 35 years, give it to somebody else. I feel as if this has been a little bit of an under appreciated production. I've seen it twice now and will go see it again once Jane Lynch steps in.

"Nice to see Cinderella creep back up a little bit"
I agree.
PIPPIN!!!
oh, and why is Ann still open???
Go KINKY BOOTS! I never anticipated this kind of business. Good for them!
This new Annie just isn't that great. The choreography is all wrong.
You think choreography sank this production? How precious.
Not at all. I'm pretty sure I've posted my thoughts on the show. Just think thats the tip of the iceberg as far as "things that were misguided" on this production. If "Hard Knock Life" is a boring number, you know it's just going to be downhill from there.
Annie--I read this from afar and only know of Anthonys continued stellar performance[oh I wish he were in something-maybe next time-to showcase that beautiful voice].It appears the diehards have already been-so that leaves the GP-and they were just going to see Annie, doesn't matter who is in the show and appears they now have lost interest[or been] with newer competition.Annie is a package show-the sum of all parts really, every major player has a moment to shine, but hopefully now[apart from that dreadful new marquee with Jane]curiosity should draw a crowd for a while..End of rant.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jane boosted sales significantly. Just look at Raven in Sister Act last year - they were doing even worse and the show arguably has less general appeal.
oh, and why is Ann still open???
I am wondering the same thing. And they announced an extension about 5 weeks ago..wth? It has never earned more than 35.5% of its gross potential.

I'm sure Ann isn't losing any money. Costs are like nothing. Bet they just aren't making any.
