To the producers of CRY-BABY:
Please post a closing notice right now. This is embarrassing.

Posted: 5/5/08 at 5:12pmMemo to the producers of GLORY DAYS: Do you really want to open and subject everyone involved to such embarrassment?

Posted: 5/5/08 at 5:13pmI think Glory Days is the one that has to put up their notice. Sucks that Gypsy hit a slump this week.

Crash and burn go Cry-Baby and Glory Days.
A $30 average ticket price when the $54 ticket deal is over (at least I think it is...haven't really bothered to check) is just pitiful. (CB)
GD isn't much better with their average ticket price.
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

Posted: 5/5/08 at 5:19pmHow is it possible that the average ticket price for Cry-Baby is so low? The average price last week was even lower. Where are people getting these super cheap tickets?

ALOT of people I know are getting comps are CB- I don't know where from because that'd be the only way I'd see it basically
and I find it funny that in one week Wicked made 30 x what Glory Days did.

Posted: 5/5/08 at 5:36pmnot surprised, because it was not going to be a big week with huge grosses and capacity because of no school breaks and colleges have not ended yet. i have to sayfor an off week the grosses and capacity were normal to me at this time of the year. i am shocked about little mermaid drop. still worried about spring awakening. is 66.6 % good for the palace theatre. last week for annaleigh in broadway wicked then she goes to chicago and haven with legally blonde ....may 11th a sad say. i know when i see this every week lion king, wicked, jersey boys, south pacific will have wonderful grosses and capacity.

At what percentage do shows start to be concerned?
Percentages don't matter so much as the Average Ticket Price. Any show can have a bad week, percentage-wise (during the winter, in the fall, etc.), but if the ATP is high, it says that there's still a great demand for the show.
(ex. SPRING AWAKENING just barely met its break-even point this week, but the ATP was about $70, a more-than-fair amount)
On the other hand, if CRY-BABY (this is last week's data) pulled in about 85% capacity, but had an ATP of $26... something's wrong.

Posted: 5/5/08 at 5:48pmthanks bustopherphantom. as long as they make enough to pay their rently use of the theatre. it will def pick up after memorial day weekend, and then make a drop after labor day weekend. matt doyle said in an interview they were around the same capcity last year before getting nominated for best musical. congratulations to a catered affairfor their great week.

It's the time between spring break and end of school - rough patch. it'll pass
I was thinking of rushing either Glory Days or Cry Baby before school ended [In addition to August and YF]- should I just save my money for something better?

Posted: 5/5/08 at 6:00pmMaybe people are too busy spending money oneveryday basic necessities than to pay the overinflated Broadway prices.

GLORY DAYS: $46,848, previous week $51,094
Wow. I can't remember the last time a show had grosses so embarrassingly low. With already two weeks like that, can the theatre just shut them down before opening? There's no possible way they can cover costs with grosses like that.
