Hogan, it's been years since I've been to the Marquis box office as I get my tickets online, but has it moved from its original location in that cubby on 7th Ave? I always thought the logistics of placing the box office there was odd and that perhaps the designer thought it would be more accessible to greater foot traffic on 7th Ave as opposed to 45th or 46th Streets. I never had a problem finding the entrance to the theater, but I can understand how tourists might find it difficult to locate.
Also, I believe I read somewhere that when the theater was built, there were no actual dressing rooms and that the designers had to retrofit retail space for them. Is that true?

I will never forget the first show I saw there. 9 to 5. My Mom and I walked around the block twice (through the Marquis underpass) because we couldn’t find the theatre. Didn’t realize it was INSIDE the hotel. Still laugh about it today. I definitely don’t think the location is the reason shows flop, though."
I was in that area a few weeks ago and it seems they have taken some steps in recent years to make it more clear. It looks like there is better signage and a larger box office with clear glass walls so you can see inside from the street.

It's kind of odd, when you think about it, that a show most of us (including me) routinely ignore is still the undisputed Broadway champion. This week,The Lion Kinghad:
- the highest ticket price
- the highest gross
- and, somehow, also, the biggest drop in gross
It's definitely positioned as a tourist destination sine qua non at this point in Broadway history."
It certainly is a tourist attraction, and not just in NYC. The only time I've seen it was when I was a tourist in Madrid.
For those expecting a quick OUAOMT closing announcement, I wouldn’t place your bets just yet - they’ve announced an Entertainment Community Fund benefit performance for August 15th. I don’t think they’d waste their time even planning for this if they were actively discussing closure before then. If sales don’t pick up, it will most likely be a Labor Day casualty.

Yes it moved, to a space at the west end of the Marriott property, next to the Richard Rodgers Theatre (where Hamilton is).
This is the first I've heard the dressing room story. So I don't know but it also doesn't sound unlikely.
Thanks, Hogan. I guess I just haven't noticed the new box office location. It was a while ago that I read about the dressing rooms (or lack thereof), but if I come across the article, I'll share it.
