Broadway's Life of Pi has set an early closing date, with its final performance now scheduled for July 23 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The West End transfer had previously been scheduled to play through September 3.
The move makes the production potentially the Main Stem's first post-Tonys casualty.

Now I think Gutenberg will be announced ….I think this was the delay
Awful script, worse than the film.

Just saw it last week. Everything involving the puppets (design, direction, puppeteers) was INCREDIBLE. But it's actually a VERY dark story and it seemed like the creators knew that, but purposefully didn't want the audience to think about it too hard.
Like “Bad Cinderella”, a script that needed to be worked on yet they refused to make the necessary changes, knowing what the issues were in London before transferring here.
I didn’t know this was a limited run to begin with.
Nevertheless, it must be tough to be the first post-Tonys casualty.
The first post-Tony Awards casualty.

Disappointing as this was one of my favorite things this season, but they've been struggling this whole time so it's not really unexpected. I wonder how much they'll have to scale down some of the effects for tour.

After it's big win in London I was expecting so much more. Visually great but.......

Unless they’ve made changes since Toronto, The Shark is Broken will continue this trend.

I'm very curious as to how the tour will work...would stages have to be completely re-worked, or can they use a platform for some of those more tricky elements?
Like when Pi goes down into those areas in the stage...would that be easy to recreate on different tour stages?
Some impressive visual moments, but that damn script was an absolute slog to endure.

It’s about to go on tour in the UK. So, I think that it’s safe to say that what ever they did there to make it able to tour, they’ll do the same for the North American tour.

Don't think that's complicated.
