This may have been a topic already, but I searched and didn't come across any...but can anyone share what they know. Which successful broadway actors did not attend college? I know a lot of Hollywood Celebs didn't go, but I was curious about Broadway.

well she's by no means a star
but a friend of mine auditioned for hairspray and got the understudy spot of tracy turnblad on the day she graduated two years ago.
she literally went straight from high school to broadway.
Hehe. Stay in school kids; you're going to want something to fall back on when you realize that you can't make a dime working in the theatre!
Unless you like waiting tables...
Correct me if I am wrong.....but I do believe....from what i heard...that Sutton Foster and Eden Espinosa are two that have not gone to College...

Sutton Foster went to Carnegie Mellon... no?
I don't think Sherie Rene Scott went to college.

Sutton Foster definitely went to college, she met Christian Borle (her soon-to-be husband) there.
Sutton, I think, attended college for a year. Stephanie J. Block went to college only for like a week before dropping out.

She didn't stay long, I don't think.
Andy Karl dropped out of college. Katie Clarke got cast in Piazza two days after she graduated.
yeah i just read in an interview Sutton went for a year...does that really count tho? She technically dropped out.
Please define "did not go to college." Do you mean, "did not go to college", i.e., did not complete an undergraduate degree or did not attend at all?
If the former, then Lea Salonga is an example. She was a premed student when she was cast in MISS SAIGON. She was registered at Fordham a couple of years ago, and as far as I know, she publicly stated that she still intends to complete her undergraduate studies albeit not as a premed student.

By "did not go"....I mean either never completed 4 years or just simply graduated High School and started auditioning and "made it"
Laura Benanti went to Broadway as a replacement Maria in The Sound of Music at age 18.
Mylinda Hull never went to college.

Nathan Lane didn't go to college I believe.

Actually, Laura was Liesel in Sound of Music before she was Maria, I believe.

Nope, according to IBDB, Laura was a nun and in the ensemble, plus understudy for Maria before she replaced Rebecca.
Nathan, or Joe Lane, did Guys and Dolls in college. That's why he chose that name...
Sutton went to C-M for a year, then left school since she was cast in the National Tour of Les Mis. She continued to get work from that point on, so she did not finish school.
I believe Stephanie J. Block did not
almostfamous- Katie still graduated from college.
Steph had a scholarship for the last 2 years to Boston Conservatory. Was going to go to a JC for the first 2 before transfering but just stayed for 5 days before she decided to take work instead. It's actually pretty funny to hear her talk about it... she mentions it on one of the cast party episodes with Jim Caruso.

TomMonster - I think it was a summer-stock production of G&D, but I could be mistaken.

Nathan didn't go to college.
He said "College is for people who don't know what they want to do. I knew what I wanted to do."

Wanna Be...
I thought Sutton Foster's first tour was WILL ROGERS' FOLLIES. LES MIZ was much later. Maybe I am wrong. You are "Wanna Be A Foster" after all.
