Lloyd Webber announced that he will donate his royalties from the production to the American Theatre Wing’s Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative and PAC NYC. Thats very nice of him. He donated money to music schools in New York when he was doing school of rock. How can one confirm he’s donated the money?
As thrilled as I am that this will be extending, I'm a bit bummed I'll no longer be able to attend the last performance. But so excited for the cast and everyone involved!

Competing for what? I’m calling bull$hit on that rumor. Literally the last time cats was on broadway, so was sunset boulevard; they were both revived in the same season, not to mention the fact that new productions of Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar were both last on Broadway in the same season in 2012. The Tony awards doesn’t mean $hit to anyone here except maybe Jamie Lloyd and the directors of Cats. Andrew would be happy for his work to be on Broadway, and the best thing for Cats would be to come in as soon as possible. Let’s also not forget, Gypsy, Floyd Collins, Pirates of Penzance, last five years, once upon a mattress. We are already up to 6 musical revivals this season, Cats would make it 7. Next to normal would make it 8. It’s literally the year of the musical revival. I hear Spiderwoman is still aiming for this spring, 9
Decided to bite the bullet and get tickets for the final performance (as of now) this time being down on the runway for a little closer action after having seen it head on in the upper balcony.

I've heard the same. Not happening this season. Really Useful doesn't want two ALW revivals competing.
Last I heard, London was being discussed, prior to Bway the following season. Even heard the National as a possibility, though I admit I didn't understand that since Webber owns theatres he must prefer using.

It makes sense. You don't want to oversaturate the market with your own work, and he's generally a producer (or co-producer) on all his shows now.
EVITA and JCS both opened on Broadway in spring 2012; one of them was a huge flop, the other eventually recouped thanks to a tour but wasn't seen as a big artistic success. CATS and SUNSET fared a little better in the 2016-2017 season.
If CATS waits a season, that's not going to hurt them.
I hope it doesn't derail a Broadway transfer by making it wait a whole year. It could start next Summer though if the Circle remains available.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I just got out of the show. As many have said I was never a Cats person but something about this just works. I think it works cuz they were just like we are mostly ignoring the show and doing it the way we think is cool. It’s a great time, with some surprisingly powerful moments.
I say this as someone who very much likes this production, but people who are coming away from it with "I get it now!" Kind of annoy me. It's patronizing. Like they didn't change really anything about the story, just the context. It's okay to just say you didn't like the original concept.

Like this is just patently false. This fully has that original Cats Cheese and Schmaltz in it too, they're just not dressed like Cats.
But the introduction of that new context helped shape the plot and characters into something nuanced that we can care about instead of just some cacophony of poems performed by Broadway gypsies in yak hair coats.

I agree they didn’t “change much” but also they did ignore that they’re cats and did an excellent job of keeping the performance engaging in a way I don’t think the show normally is because of what they brought to the production.

The Dorfman at The National would be an ideal theatre for this and I hope that rumour is true.
