Nick just totally delivers the vocal goods. I saw him several times in the "RENT" revival and every time he just reduced me to tears when he sang the "I'll Cover You" reprise.

I look forward to him and Tveit on the recording.

and i look forward to Lea and Nik's duets. I've always loved Mountain Duet and You and I and what I have managed to hear of them so far is beautiful and will be even better on the cast recording.

I've already had Nobody's Side and Anthem on repeat since they came out and will enjoy hearing the full cast recording.  Soviet Machine should also be a fun listen.

To the horror of Aaron stans, and its not a dig at Aaron as Pity the Child is fantastic,  my skip track most times will be Bangkok.  it's become like a bad ear worm the amount of times I've heard it pop up when I am seeing anything related to Chess online.

I have mentioned before. I just can't listen to her "Nobody's Side". I am just not into the way she periodically sings ahead of the music. When I saw it in October I thought it might have just been a sound thing but she has continued to do it. She was fine, for me, outside of that.

I’m honestly just waiting for the whole thing to drop. Apple Music acts weird when the pre-orders release singles and creates separate albums for them. The YouTube versions feed the hunger for now. 😂

Well as I need to sleep ive just jumped and listened to my two most anticipated tracks, Mountain Duet and You and I and they were worth the wait.  not just Lea and Nik's vocals but the orchestra too.

also wasn't sure if they would include Freddie at the end of Mountain Duet, but they do.

I look forward to listening  to the whole recording in order on my drive to work later this morning.

Why. Is. The Arbiter. Slowed. Down?

Am I nuts for thinking the tempo was faster in the theatre? This version sounds a bit more sluggish as opposed to its usual punchiness. I compared it to my audio slime and I definitely perceive a difference

The length of the song, studio vs live, is practically identical on my end. I don't think it's slower.

I'm loving another of my Chess favourites,  Quartet,  on this cast recording.  Bryce, Lea , Nik and Bradley are wonderful on this.   

Honestly,  whatever problems people might have with the book,  you just can't deny the strength of the music.  I can't really see a real skip track there, even if I joke about Bangkok.

if this isn't in the running for the Grammy I will be stunned.

Just listening to Anthem right now. Lord is Nik good.

Both. She is starting the words too late (on the beat while it should be earlier), and then she is speeding up the words too much, which makes her end the words ahead of the music, trying to hang in the beat again, while the words should end either before or after the beat.

For example on 0:57 "Can't continue, I've still a lot to prove" she is way ahead of the music, trying to be on the beat while this song is not written that way. You can't "hang ahead" on the beat in this song. It is not the way it is written. And then for example at 1:52 "contract truly signed, there's nothing certain left to know". Every word there is sung half a beat too late. It is a big mess. You can't "hang behind" the beat in this song either. The timing in this song switches between the verses and the chorus. She sings the verses in the chorus timing, which is more basic musical style and on the beat. But that is not possible in the verses here. The verses are written in a very pointy, rhythmic way and there is only one way to place each syllable and some of them need to be hurried and some of them need to be stretched, she does this completely wrong and every syllable starts and ends just randomly in wrong places. Listen to the Judy Kuhn version. She nails the timing.

Someone specifically asked for the explanation, so I thought it would be respectful to give it. Also, I love Lea as a singer, this is just not her song. And these kind of timing-errors are not a matter of taste.

in YOUR  opinion they are timing errors. 

anyway moving on. Soviet Machine is a lot of fun and Bradley is great on this number.
