Since the only commonality between this play and the few done at the Apollo is that it has some black stars, what you said and continue to say is racist. As a side point, people who insist they are not being racist almost always are. As penance, I suggest you spend some time researching both the history of the Apollo's theatrical productions, and also the substance of this particular play that I am pretty confident you know nothing about beyond the blurb in the press release. Even though that may not cure you of racism, it will at least position you to be less ill-informed."
I think the comment I bolded is way off-base, but otherwise, well said Hogan. Hard to understand what the original comment could have possibly meant/implied.
re my "side point," it's obviously just a side point and also just my opinion but it is borne out by content analysis data.

"Sounds like something a racist would say."

Someone posted a pic of the set from the invited dress last night, haven’t seen any first reactions yet though: https://twitter.com/kkassal/status/1440817117964636172?s=21

Its set at a funeral, right? I wonder if they'll keep the church setting the entire time.

I'm planning to go on Sunday with a group of friends. What would you say is the best way to get the cheapest tickets?

Probably their lottery.

If the lottery doesn’t pan out I posted a code I got from a mailer in the Broadway Discounts thread. I bought a ticket today and it came out to $60ish including fees for the cheaper seats.

Saw the show thanks to winning the lottery!
My cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much. This is an amazing cast AND a few of the leads are making their Broadway debuts with this show!!!!
At the end, Norm Lewis named THIRTY people making their Broadway debuts on and off-stage with the show!! Amazing. I loved it :)

I am curious about this show. The cast looks great, but the premise seems a bit uninspired. A funeral is such an overused setting and plot device! On the fence about seeing this since now I can't see as many shows as I used to. I wish the show success nonetheless! For those that see it please share your reviews, I am interested in them.

So I went to see the show today, and I have to say, this is one of the best, most wholesome nights I've ever had in a theater. Besides the stellar cast and the story line we all can relate to if we have a family, the energy between the actors and the audience was electrifying. This was my 4th Broadway show that I saw after reopening, but this particular play had a healing effect on me today and I hope many more people get to experience this in the next three months. Also, worthy of mentioning, the theater was packed today, which made me very happy. I hope the word of mouth makes this production more known and popular. Please do yourself a favor and see it.
Updated On: 9/25/21 at 12:18 AMSaw this last night and it was a true delight! And many thanks to the digital lotto - the seats were incredible. To add to people asking about a run time, it definitely wasn’t 90 minutes. It was closer to two hours. I really hope sales pick up. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Saw the show this afternoon and loved it. It's both funny and human. Michael Urie steals every scene he-s in. The rest of that cast is excellent.

Also saw it this afternoon and adored it. The cast is terrific, Urie is hilarious, and the actress who plays Latrice (don’t have playbill right now) was also brilliant. Everyone is terrific.
They must update the running time though. It’s 2 hours, not 90 minutes.
