so there's no confusion? no air date yet as of now....

No, Margo.
That only applies to LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER -- no DVD release and only a few air dates since these 'filmed' productions remain the property of the Lincoln Center -- NOT PBS. This is why CONTACT, TWELTH NIGHT, PASSION IN CONCERT, etc. will never be released on DVD.
Programming that aired as part of the Great Performances series have an open-ended contract therefore PBS can air them as many times as they wish and when they wish. PBS also has the rights to release the programs on DVD, which is why we have all those Sondheim shows, FOSSE, KISS ME KATE, CANDIDE, SOUTH PACIFIC IN CONCERT and the upcoming broadcast of John Doyle's COMPANY on DVD.
Great news, but I still just wished they could have pulled themselves together and taped "Grey Gardens".
Did they tape the matinee or the evening show? I saw it on Tuesday and once durning the beginning of its run. I sort of wish they chose a different play to film, but I'm glad that Kevin Kline's performance will be perserved.
Its happy news that PBS is beginning to have more Broadway shows in its programming. Although, it doesn't happen everywhere. When LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA aired on Great Performances, I was living in Tucson and they didn't show it...just a rerun of Wayne Dyer. I was so pissed off.
I was at the matinee yesterday and they were filming.
I saw the show from the rear mezzanine and hardly saw anyone's face. This is nice for me to see the show close.

I hope they get August: Osage County too.
As mentioned before -- 3 performances were taped/filmed. Unless it airs 'live' (like those LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER airings), shows are edited from 3 different performances. This was also the case with FOSSE, John Doyle's COMPANY and also when MTV taped/filmed LEGALLY BLONDE -- they filmed one with a regular audience; one with no audience; one with the special MTV audience.
I'm so happy. I had no idea this was even considered...
I am happy that i will get a chance to see the actor's face up close when they air this on TV.. like most of my seats- I got the $20.00 nosebleed seats at the very steep Richard Rodgers theater...
I was just wonderin' if the appeal of that curtain flowing effortless across that wide stage will be lost, if you see it on TV...There are certain things that get lost when you see it on TV with close up...vs. seeing the whole view on the entire stage...
and Cyrano's sceneries are very beautiful. with that stairs, curtains, trees, and the moon.
I am very curious about this..I just hope they air it soon! like a month from now....

here you go.... these pictures does not even do justice to the play's scenery.
I am so happy to hear that this production is being preserved. Kevin Kline is wonderful.
I saw this show on Halloween and I loved it. I can't wait to be able to see it again.
The performance on Friday night was taped as well.

I'm suprised there is no "official" word yet. I hope it airs sometime before the Tonys.

Most Broadway shows are recorded and can be watched at the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center. Most writers don't want their work broadcast without being heavily compensated, which is why the royalty-free classics are the ones generally shown on television, because the contracts are easier to negotiate.
Also, directors and choreographers of new works don't want people stealing their work and mounting it as their own in other productions.
Sondheim is an exception to the rule as far as contemporary writers go.
With Contact and Fosse, the creators knew they would have no life in regional, stock, or amateur productions because the show is too difficult to mount, so they stood nothing to lose from broadcasting it.

Was there an offiical word on this? Like, on Playbill or anything?
Yes, there was an official announcement on all the major Broadway sites. Here's the playbill.com article.
