This may sound like a dumb question - but how are you all getting decent tickets for this show? I am visiting NYC in a few weeks and I am trying to get a ticket for this, but all the 'table' seats are going for a donation of $2,500!! Even the front mezzanine are going for that. Is there a secret or a better way to get a good seat that is not in the last row of the rear mezz?? Any advice would be much appreciated. I am just looking for one seat.

try going to the theater box office or buy tickets for $47 but they are not table seating.

I don't live in NYC so I can't go to the box office. I don't have to have table seating, I just want to decent seat without obstructed view.

"I don't live in NYC so I can't go to the box office. I don't have to have table seating, I just want to decent seat without obstructed view."

BWAY_Rob - I've read somewhere on the forum that subscribers or donors (those with advance seating booking capabilities) may end up releasing their tickets and rebook for a later show. For example, I've had success booking table 212, seat 4 at noon for the 8pm show the same evening. Also attended Sat's matinee and I bought the ticket 2 days before - there were a couple of (front/rear) tables available and some scattered seats in front mezz, rows AA/BB.

I think patience is key here - which is pretty hard for me because I'm VERY impatient. If you're willing to wait and constantly check the website, better seats can pop up at any time.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice. I hate to wait until I get there because it is right after opening night and I'm afraid seats will be even harder to get. For anyone that was seen the show, which seats would you recommend - the bar rail that is on the far side of the orchestra (BR-1 or BR-2) or the bar rail that is at the back of the orchestra (OB-102 or OB-201)? Or there are a couple of seats in the last row of the rear mezz all the way to the side (LL-Cabaret previews .

Just wanted to let you know that I am in a bar rail seat right now. The first one on the right. Your view of the second level is obstructed but it doesn't ruin the experience Updated On: 4/6/14 at 01:24 PM

Thanks for the information! What is your seat number? If you think it is decent, maybe I can try to get the same seat. They told the the 2nd level was 'a little' obstructed. I am interested to hear your opinion.

Back home now. All of the bar rail seats have pretty much the same view. I actually couldn't imagine how the seats directly in front of me were THAT much better and they go for $162 a pop. Mostly everything takes place on the lower level. You will have to lean forward a bit to see some of the stuff that takes place on the second level. The only time I was a bit disappointed was during 'I Don't Care Much'. Still, we are talking about a few minutes out of a 2 1/2 hour show. The seats really aren't bad at all. I'd rather sit there than in the back of the Rear Mezz. Going to see the show again next month from the 2nd row of the Front Mezz (even better). Had an amazing time! My seat was BR - 102 by the way.

I sat in the rear mezz. today, row KK. The view was great. I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone with legs.

I saw the show last weekend and I've spent a lot of time thinking about the past few days. If you're familiar with the '98 revival, no, the shock of that production is. But the enjoyment, delight, and beauty are. Alan Cumming was under the weather, but he still sold it. What I was please to see was how much he kept the character up--the emcee was not a man 16 years older. Frankly, he he'll it up and it was quality. His interactions with the Kit Kat Club boys and girls was on point, funny, and just raunchy enough. It seemed to me that the boys are a bit younger in this production and the girls a bit older. It was anti treating dynamic that visually added another layer to the story.

I figured Michelle Williams would do well as Sally Bowles, but she just nailed it. I hope this is the first of many times we see her on stage. Her singing voice is more then serviceable for this show and with time, I expect to her to begin using this as another trick in her bag. Her acting hits all stretches of the theater and her version of the title song hits you in the gut. She's acting the sh*t out of this role. I saw many similarities between Michelle's Sally and Natasha Richardson's. You feel the desperation and sadness, but see and understand the choices they made.

Linda Emond and Danny Burstein are a joy. Emond adds layers to Schneider I've never seen. She's made the role one you think about and truly feel her pain. She was definitely a highlight of the show.

The only disappointment I felt and it was minor is that smaller roles like Fräulein Kost and Ernst didn't move me the way they last time. However, Michelle Pawk and Denis O'Hare are 2 dynamic actors and they brought so much to the stage.

If you didn't see the last revival, you're getting a very good taste of what wad offered in 1998. If you did see it, it's still a great night out with some of the best performances on the boards right now.

I was desperately trying to get an orch table for this Sunday's matinee but the only thing available online were bar rails. I waited and monitored the web page and on Friday at around 9 pm, the tables that were reserved for VIP donors but had not been sold were released for purchase and I was able to buy table 151 which is a perfect seat. So a little patience and perseverance pay off.

To those who have seen the show, would you recommend MEZZ: row C or D center or B, C, D side, or ORCH: tables in the rear to the sides (165, 175, 176, 181, 183, 185, 186)?

Thank you!

Saw Cabaret Saturday afternoon and it was as glorious as I remember it from the two times I saw it during the summer of 2000. Cumming, Williams and Edmond are remarkable and the entire production felt identical--which made it still perfect because they didn't need to change a thing. 14 years later, the jolt of a finish still packs a wallop. We already have tickets to see it again in a few weeks.

Our floor banquette worked out rather well. Fortunately, a short couple had the table in front of us--but we could still only see the cast from the knees up due to the sea of heads and torsos between us and the stage. Pity the couple in the banquette next to us who marveled at their luck when the show started and the table in front of them was empty. Until, however, about 10 minutes in when a linebacker came and sat directly in front of them and pretty much blocked their entire view. They spent the rest of the show shifting and craning and struggling to see.

It appeared to me that if you can't sit stage-side and avoid those human obstructions, the best seats were the row of tables directly behind the floor banquettes as they are the first row of tables on the elevated platform known as rear orchestra. Very clear sight lines!

I saw the show last night, and wanted to post my thoughts.

I never saw the 1998 incarnation, but have seen a regional and college production obviously modeled after it (as so many other posters have mentioned as being the norm for the show now). I thought I knew what I was getting when I sat down at my cute little front mezzanine seat with red lamp next to me.

I thought wrong.

I was transported and fully invested the entire evening. It amazes me that Alan is still fresh in the role, and is really giving it his all the entire time. He is a charismatic and mesmerizing performer, and seeing him was a joy.

Whenever Michelle Williams was on stage, I could not take my eyes off of her. She was really a perfect Sally for me. Her vibrato reminded me a little of Lotte Lenya at times, and I really loved how deep and smoky her tone was for most of the songs. She sang with confidence and was perfect pitch wise. I have no complaints about her singing, and thought I was witnessing something special watching her in her Broadway debut.

Linda was amazing as Fraulein Schneider. I am really familiar with Mary Louise Wilson's work on the recording, but I really thought Linda brought a more poised quality to the role. Her Schneider has a quiet tenacity that simmers just below the surface. When she returns the glass bowl in act two and outlines her survival through revolution and war... you can see it all in her face. Her strength is internal, and it radiates. She was amazing.

The band sounded amazing, and I really just am still reeling from the full theatrical experience I had for those two and a half hours. I paid full price this time around, but will definitely be revisiting the Kit Kat Klub again later on in the run with hiptix.

Has anyone attempted the stage door for this? I'm in the rear mezz in the Hiptix seats and am DYING to get Michelle Williams to sign. She is by far my favorite actress. How has it been?

For those that have seen the show thus far, does Alan still pull someone up from the audience during intermission to dance on stage with him? I know this was the deal in the past at 54.

At the first preview, Alan pulled up two people (one at a time) for a very brief dance each.

Not slamming her or you, but I am curious... why would she be anyone's favorite actress?! I liked the Creek, and I've seen her in a lot of good supporting roles... am I missing/forgetting some obvious role that would make her someone's favorite actress? I do like her, so if I did miss something like this, I want to see it.

You mean besides her three Oscar-nominated roles?

Personally, I've loved her since DICK.

Yes, I could look at her IMDB page and sort out what she's been in before, or just read my Playbill... but that still wouldn't point out what specific roles make her someone's favorite actress. Her Oscar-nominated roles might not be the one that captured someone's attention... I like actors who have been nominated before, but that isn't always my favorite role from them.

you really shouldn't pass judgment on someone else's opinion. We all have our favorites, no matter how many jobs they've had. For instance, when I saw Welcome to the Dollhouse, I immediately fell in love with Heather Matarazzo. Because of her work in that film, I decided she was one of my favorite actresses. I would look forward to seeing anything she was in, no matter how small a role. That's not so bizarre.

If you read what I wrote as an attack on someone for calling Williams their favorite actress I would agree with you... but it was really just a question to sort out if I was missing some amazing roles she had done.

One would imagine the last line: " I do like her, so if I did miss something like this, I want to see it." would have indicated as much?

I do realize attack and mockery are the default settings for a lot of conversations on here, but every so often, it actually isn't there.

that line. there. The minute you said not slamming her or you, you're admitting that you are questioning her opinion as something so unbelievable that you want an explanation. It's like when someone says "no offense but....."

Well, I obviously can't convince anyone on BWW not to misinterpret my words, but it does seem like I am able to know my own intent better than someone else.

You do have a point, it would read so much better without those words, and just stated: "why would she be anyone's favorite actress?"

Point taken. Cabaret previews
