I realize that even I am growing a little tired of the constant movie to musical turn out as a quick cash grab. But the more I think about it I think this could really work.
My thoughts - call me by your name as a minimalist piece. Music by oh wonder. ( was just listening to them and think they would be a perfect fit ) maybe Cheyenne Jackson and the rest new comers. Even start off broadway in an intimate setting. What do you think. About a call me by your name adaptation

Wanking Through a Peach?
The Peach Where It Happens?

Posted: 11/9/18 at 5:02pmThis would be a great musical, but it would need to be carefully and delicately handled by a really exceptional creative team. It would be a great piece for Sondheim and Lapine, but I don't see them writing any more musicals together.

I adore the movie. I do not feel that a musical is necessary, nor do I feel that it would work.

I could see it as a chamber musical - no big numbers, just subdued and minimal like the Sufjan Stevens music in the film.

Posted: 11/9/18 at 5:38pmHow about we just get Stevens to write an original musical?

I could see it working as something in the style of Light in the Piazza.

There's a song titled "Plump and Juicy" in Pasek/Paul's James And The Giant Peach. I'd argue that'd fit well here.

Posted: 11/10/18 at 12:14amI'd take a Love, Simon musical but Call Me By Your Name would need to be a straight play or a full blown opera. And there'd need to be a distinct point of view to justify doing it after the film.
